Stacy Papadopoulos, the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) current general counsel and senior vice president of industry services, will serve as the Washington, D.C.-based trade organization’s interim CEO, the group has announced.
The AGA has established a search committee to seek a permanent replacement for the departing Geoff Freeman, who resigned after five years of service to take a similar position with a grocery trade organization. Freeman will depart the AGA at the end of July.
In a statement, AGA Board Chairman Tim Willmott the CEO of Penn National Gaming, said Papadopoulos will hold the CEO position on an interim basis until a new chief executive is named.
Papadopoulos joined the AGA in 2014 as general counsel and assumed responsibility for industry and shared services in 2016. Her legal practice focused on corporate governance and compliance, securities disclosure, executive compensation, corporate transactions and nonprofit organizations.
