Las Vegas-based Scientific Games Corporation says its Open Bet sports wagering platform processed 177 million wagers during the 2018 World Cup without incident.
The company says the number of sports bets processed for a single sportsbook operator peaked at 18,000 per minute through the OpenBet platform
Globally, bookmakers using Open Bet saw unprecedented bets per minute because of the platform’s “in-play” capability, the company said.
Company officials note the high volume was fortified by favorable game start times in Europe and the participation of several major European countries where major bookmakers in legal, regulated markets use Open Bet.
It was also revealed this week that Caesars Entertainment is utilizing the Open Bet platform at its New Jersey properties in Atlantic City and in Mississippi.
