Las Vegas continues to assert itself as a major sports destination with word from Lausanne, Switzerland that the 2018-2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour has added Las Vegas, along with Chetumal, Mexico as host sites for new events in October.
Las Vegas will host a 4-star double gender event from October 17 to 21. The following week, from October 24-28, Chetumal will welcome the top women's teams to the Yucatan Peninsula for a 3-star single gender event.
The Las Vegas visit marks the first time Las Vegas hosts a stop on the international circuit. Mexico last held a World Tour event in 2016.
The FIVB is the governing body responsible for all forms of the sport on a global level. The FIVB says its goal is to develop volleyball as a major world media and entertainment sport through world-class planning and organization of competitions.
The exact location of the Las Vegas event was not announced.
