Last Thursday’s Browns-Giants preseason game marked the first time an NFL game in which fans could legally place wagers from inside the stadium.
DraftKings launched the first mobile sportsbook in New Jersey on Aug. 1. New Jersey is the only new state to permit online and mobile wagering, with only the DraftKings’ sportsbook up and running.
MGM Resorts says its mobile sports betting platform, licensed through its Borgata casino in Atlantic City, would be offering mobile betting soon through the PlayMGM app.
ESPN reported that there were no restrictions on DraftKings mobile betting within MetLife Stadium, as the Browns defeated the Giants 20-10 and, in-play wagers were accepted until late in the fourth quarter. DraftKings rival FanDuel operates the sportsbook at the nearby Meadowlands Racetrack, but the Fan Duel mobile wagering system is not yet operational.
