Online casino gaming in New Jersey has continued to grow steadily since being launched nearly five years ago and now generates more than $20 million a month combined for operators.
Every month in 2018 has produced growth of double-digit percentages compared to the same period a year ago, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
“I’m surprised that it’s still growing at such a rate,” Steve Ruddock, lead analyst for PlayNJ.com, told the Press. “People expected full maturity at maybe the three- or four-year mark.”
The lingering concern, however, is whether online gaming’s convenience has affected non-gaming revenues in a tourist-type location such as Atlantic City.
A total of five Atlantic City casino hotels closed between 2014 and 2016 while the online gaming was soaring.
