College football:

Orange Bowl: Iowa vs. Georgia Tech -5½ (total 50½): The Orange Bowl features a nice matchup with two capable teams that have different approaches to beating their opponents. Georgia Tech (11-2) features a high-octane offense fueled by a rushing attack ranked second in the country and led by running back Jonathan Dwyer (1,346 yards and 14 touchdowns). Iowa (10-2) uses a tenacious defense to hold opponents at bay; they’ve only allowed 20-plus points against four opponents. Surprisingly, Iowa has a solid passing attack which gets back quarterback Ricky Stanzi, who passed for 2,186 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. That could be the Yellow Jackets’ Achilles Heel as they’ve been soft on defense, ranked in the bottom third of the country in many key categories. However, this game doesn’t figure to be a shoot out, so a play on the UNDER might be a solid one. Also give the Hawkeyes a shot at staying close and possibly stealing this one. The Big 10 has performed well in bowl games, they’re 3-3 but those three losses were by 1, 3 and 10 points (they have a 4-2 point-spread mark). Moreover, Iowa has a solid track record in bowls: 12-10-1 overall, with Coach Kirk Ferentz enjoying a 6-1 ATS mark. Iowa +5½ and UNDER 50½
