College basketball:

Ohio State -1 ½ at Illinois: This is a key Big 10 match-up with each team trying to stay at or near the top of the league standings along with Michigan State. The Buckeyes have won eight straight conference games and, more important, they’ve won three straight on the road, where they had problems earlier in the season. Illinois has shown itself to be capable, with back-to-back wins over Wisconsin and Michigan State, though they lost at home to Purdue two weeks ago. The Buckeyes are rounding into a balanced team, as they showed last week they could step it up when their star Evan Turner is held in check. Ohio State -1 ½

Louisville at Syracuse -7½: The Orange is tough at home, while Louisville has lost four straight on the road. It looks like another tough match-up for the Cardinals. Syracuse -7 ½

Georgetown -11 at Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights have had some decent games at home, but when stepping up in competition (Syracuse and Villanova), they’ve been blown out. Georgetown can play close to that level and should have this game in hand early. Georgetown -11.
