Wake Forest faces off against the Aggies at the Belk Bowl

In the Belk Bowl this Friday in Charlotte, nearby Wake Forest is a 3-point favorite against Texas A&M.

For those who have not paid attention to Wake Forest this year, they might not realize that one of the star players; Greg Dortch was silenced early on with a season ending injury.  Many thought this devastating blow to the Demon Deacons would cost them chances at a winning season.  Only that's not what happened. Even though there were a few setbacks, the team thrived and ended up being bowl eligible.

Wake Forest does have trouble though, especially when it comes to defense.  As many have noted, the Deacs finished 14 and last in the ACC in that category.

That does not say much for the team’s ability to stop an opponent.

The Aggies, on the other hand, have made some improvements and the return of some key players is bound to set the stage for an interesting matchup.

Experts are predicting that this game might be full of big plays.  At present, the total ranges from 64.5 at Westgate to 65.5 at MGM Mirage properties.

One of the things that will be important is whether Wake Forest can handle the turnovers that have plagued them.  In fact, this game might end up being decided on which team ends up giving the game away.

The crushing blow in the loss against Duke, will have been enough to allow Wake Forest to wake up and realize that it has to hold on to the football because doing so will likely produce a similar result, and Wake wants this game.

Changes at Texas A&M include Jimbo Fisher leaving Florida State to take over as head coach next season so this matchup with Wake could either result in an inspired effort by the Seminoles are not having the gusto it needs to win.

Prediction: Wake Forest -3
