The San Francisco 49ers won the Christian McCaffrey sweepstakes after giving up four draft picks in Thursday’s blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers.

The 49ers shot up Super Bowl oddsboards upon acquiring McCaffrey, who is one of the NFL’s most dynamic running backs when healthy.

Westgate SuperBook VP of Risk Management Ed Salmons moved San Francisco’s Super Bowl futures odds from +2000 to +1400. But the Buffalo Bills (+220) remain heavy betting favorites at his shop to win Super Bowl 57.

“Running backs usually don’t move the needle for teams to win a Super Bowl,” Salmons said in a text to Gaming Today.

Circa Sports Director of Risk Chris Bennett also adjusted his book’s odds on the 49ers.

“I wasn’t going to move anything, but we took some money on the 49ers to win the NFC, so I went from 16/1 and 7/1 to 14/1 and 6/1 for the Super Bowl and NFC (futures),” Bennett said. “If the 49ers utilize McCaffrey as a receiver that should help. I thought they had enough weapons as is, but you can never have too much depth in a sport where injuries are constantly happening.”

At BetMGM, the 49ers cracked the top-five betting favorites behind the Bills, Eagles, Chiefs, and Buccaneers, as the book tightened San Francisco’s price to +1000.

DraftKings shortened San Francisco’s Super Bowl futures from +2500 to +1600. The 49ers are now the fifth betting choice to win Super Bowl 57 at the book.

Meanwhile, Carolina’s Super Bowl odds lengthened from +50000 to +70000 at DraftKings, where only the Texans and Bears have longer odds at +100000.

FanDuel is dealing San Francisco at +650 to win the NFC, behind only Philadelphia (+220) and Tampa Bay (+500). Prior to the season, the 49ers were the fourth betting favorite to win the conference title at +750.

Sportsbooks have also updated betting odds for this week’s games involving Carolina and San Francisco. The Panthers are in clear rebuild mode as they prepare to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

The Bucs were -11 road favorites at DraftKings before McCaffrey’s trade. The line moved to Tampa Bay -13 as of Friday morning. The Panthers are the only double-digit dog on this week’s betting card.

San Francisco hosts Kansas City in a rematch of Super Bowl 54 on Sunday. The 49ers remain a short home dog, but the line at DraftKings ticked down from KC -2.5 to -2.
