The things I will do for my loyal readers.

I have had some request to check out the Heart Attack Grill. Now, I’m not sure if my readers are just tired of me or if they are really interested in the Grill.

You see, it has made the news as one of their spokespersons actually died from a heart attack. They have had a customer die as well. Their claim to fame is the world’s highest calorie burger, which they call the Quadruple Bypass Burger, weighing in at 8,000 calories.

The Heart Attack Grill (450 Fremont St.) attracted me and my friend Cris, who has been one of the people telling me I had to try the burger. My question is: Was Cris taking me here because he truly wanted me to try the burger or was he mad about my New England Pats scoring the miracle win over the Saints, who he had bet earlier that day?

Thinking back, I may have celebrated that win just a little too much and this was Cris’ payback. Well, we got to the Heart Attack and the nurse checked us in. Yes, they put a wrist band on you and a hospital gown, just as if you were being admitted to the hospital. Or maybe to save time if you end up there.

Cris has been here before and swore this was indeed one of the best burgers in town. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple burgers.

I didn’t go crazy as I only ordered the single bypass burger but I did add bacon and they applied five strips. The burger was really good and came with several toppings. My only knock, keeping the burger from a higher rating, was the bun.

I have always said the bread or bun can make or break a sandwich. In this case the bun, which I thought was a tad on the dry side, kept the burger from being a 10. But with that said, it was great.

I passed on the fries, which are cooked in pure lard. I felt I really didn’t want to push the envelope too much as I’m sure my doctor wouldn’t be thrilled with my burger and the five strips of bacon. They also offer milkshakes that have a pad of butter. Yes, I said butter. It’s their Butterfat Shake and, again, highest calorie content of any milkshake.

With everything being hospital themed here, when you order a shot as my buddy Cris did, it’s 4 ounces served in a medicine bottle. Yes, they give you a bottle with your name on it and it looks like you are drinking out of a big pill or specimen bottle.

If you order wine it comes out in an IV Bag. Feel like a jello shot? They will serve it to you in a syringe.

The Heart Attack Grill is a fun place to go with a group of people or if you have friends in town and want to take them to Fremont St.

Oh by the way, if you don’t finish your burger one of the nurses will spank you. The spanking is optional but they do show the spankings on their web cam if you want to be a star.

Check out the Grill and grab a burger, but I wouldn’t make a steady diet of it, for your health. I give Heart Attack Grill a rating of 3.0 Forks out of 4.
