During football season I spend long hours watching games and getting hungry. For me, there is nothing better, other than doing it with great friends.
Every Monday night I head out to watch the game with some friends. Cris and Bryan are like me, as we all enjoy the games and some good food and drink. I like to refer to us as the Monday Night Football Posse as we try to hit a different place each week.
This particular Monday we ended up at Big Dog’s Café and Casino (6390 W. Sahara Ave.). I had been there a few days earlier and had the wings. If you’re a regular follower of my column, you know my favorite guilty pleasure food is chicken wings.
I am always looking for the best wings in Las Vegas. Well, I feel I may have just found them. Big Dog’s has two different kinds of wings. They have the traditional wings tossed in various sauces, like just about every other bar and tavern in Las Vegas.
But what got me excited were the Spicy Twice Baked Wings. What they do is fry the wings like every place else but then toss them in Cajun seasonings and bake in the oven to sear in the flavor. Trust me when I tell you these wings are amazing. And right now they’re my favorite in Vegas.
We had several items during the Monday Night Game, including the Pot Roast Tacos, which were very tasty as well. I ordered the Wisconsin Cheese Curds. Make sure you have a friend or two with you when ordering because the serving is huge.
These are not the normal mozzarella cheese sticks you would get in most bars. These are white cheddar cheese curds in a light batter fried to a golden brown. They serve them with a homemade dill horseradish sauce and ranch dressing for dipping. I absolutely loved them.
On my earlier visit I had tried their Bavarian Soft Pretzel, which is a huge pretzel baked to perfection. There is nothing like a good pretzel and a cold beverage while watching the game. That combo will have you thinking you’re at the game.
I also tried their Baby Back Ribs on my earlier visit and was quite pleased with them as well. The Ribs dinner came with soup or salad and two sides for a very reasonable price.
Big Dog’s is a brew house as they have several of their own on tap and have an ever changing seasonal menu of hand crafted beers. If you are a beer drinker they will have one for just about everyone’s taste.
When it comes to sports bars, Big Dog’s has you covered as they have plenty of TV’s, great food and plenty of cold beer choices. The servers are very friendly and attentive. I give Big Dog’s Café and Casino a rating of 3.75 Forks out of 4.
