When you have been in business for over 40 years, you must be doing something right. Especially in a world that loves to try new things or the latest fad.

But the Omelet House has stood the test of time here in Las Vegas. The original Omelet House is located at 2160 W. Charleston Blvd. which opened for business in 1979. There are three additional Omelet Houses in Las Vegas with two located at 316 N. Boulder Highway and 6520 Boulder Highway and another in Summerlin at Lake Mead and Rampart.

Check Out More Dining Here

This past week I went to the original location and as usual it was packed on a Tuesday morning. When you walk in you immediately get to see pictures on the walls of all the famous people that have eaten here over four-plus decades. It’s like taking a Las Vegas History lesson. There are Knick Knacks throughout the restaurant on the shelves and walls which make it feel like you’re stepping back in time to when you were a kid and went to your Grandmother’s for dinner. It gives the Omelet House that warm and welcoming feeling.

Although décor is always nice it means nothing if the food isn’t any good.

That is not something you have to worry about at the Omelet House as the portions are always big and the food is always good. The Omelet Houses are open daily from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. The only days they are not open is Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

When you sit down to order every breakfast comes with a treat. You can get a warm piece of Pumpkin or Banana Nut Bread. This is a great way to start the meal while you are waiting for your breakfast to be cooked. I can’t decide which one I like better, so when it’s the wife and I, she gets one I get the other and we share.

The stars of the Omelet House are their omelets, I know what a shocker that is, given the name of the restaurant. But all kidding aside, when you have 38 different omelets on the menu to choose from, they are definitely the stars of the show.

Omelet No. 27 is called Lobster Fest and comes with chunks of real lobster, avocado and Jack Cheese. There’s the Popeye Omelet with spinach, mushrooms and Jack Cheese. Over the years I’ve probably had 10 of the 38 so I still have a lot of work to do. These Omelets are huge, so they offer them in two different sizes: regular and baby omelet which is the right size for most people.

Order the Spuds as your potato as these are thin sliced potatoes fried that look like fresh homemade potato chips. Trust me, they are so good.

The Omelet House has a full lunch menu as well. But to be honest,  even if I visit in the afternoon, I’m ordering breakfast, which is served all day. But if you want to deviate from breakfast, try their famous fried Zucchini. It’s one of their signature items, one I have had many times and it’s great.

All of the locations are great but I have to say the original on Charleston is my favorite given that’s where it all began. The staff makes you feel like an invited guest into their home rather than a customer. Many of the waitresses have been there forever and that just adds to the homey feel and maybe the reason they have been a Las Vegas staple for over 40 years. I give the Omelet House my Rare Rating of 4 Forks.
