Calvin Ridley

In his Jacksonville debut, Calvin Ridley proved that he is the No. 1 receiver for the Jaguars. He caught eight passes for 101 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets. He has only received that many targets nine times in his 50 career games, and in those games, he is averaging 111 receiving yards on 8.5 receptions per game. 

Ridley also has eight touchdowns when he sees that level of production. While the Chiefs will be a much tougher test than the Colts’ secondary, the Jaguars should still be able to move the ball. Kansas City will have Chris Jones back for this game, but Jacksonville has a solid offensive line and a quarterback in Trevor Lawrence that looks like he will blossom into the franchise quarterback Jacksonville had hoped he would. 

Last season, Jacksonville ranked 10th in passes per game, and although Travis Etienne looked sharp in Week 1, this is not a great running back room. Simply put, the Jaguars will continue throwing the ball a lot, which should open Ridley to find the end zone again. 

Breece Hall

We are almost a week removed from the Jets’ opening game, and it still feels weird to talk about this team. Obviously, with Aaron Rodgers out for the season, the Jets’ receiver room is not as valuable as it looked at the beginning of the season. 

However, the Jets are still a great team, with an improved offensive line and a great running back room for Zach Wilson to lean on. In the emotional Week 1 win, Breece Hall out-rushed every offensive player on both sides, picking up 127 yards on 10 carries, including an 83-yard rush. 

Before his season-ending injury last season, Hall looked like one of the top offensive targets in football, and that was with Wilson as his quarterback. He rushed for over 460 yards and was even a big threat with his hands, catching 19 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown. 

The problem is they are facing a Cowboys defense that may be the best in football, and they showed why in a 40-0 Week 1 win over the Giants. However, the Cowboys’ run defense is questionable, and the Jets have a loaded running back room, which they will need to rely on to minimize the number of times Wilson has to throw the football. 

Ezekiel Elliott

The former Cowboy did nothing in the Week 1 loss to the Eagles, but the Patriots may lean on him and the entire running back room on Sunday Night Football. While Miami’s rush defense was excellent last season, they got torched for 233 rushing yards allowed against the Chargers. 

The defensive scheme changed this offseason with new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, and not only did they have problems stopping the run, but they also did not get much pressure on the quarterback. While the Patriots have some injuries on the offensive line, this is still a rock-solid unit, and they should be able to hold their own against an average front seven.

It is clear that the best unit in this game will be the Dolphins offense. New England has a borderline elite defense, but there is just so much speed to account for with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. This is why we should see New England slow the offense down this week and lean on the run game to chew up clock and keep Miami’s offense off the field. 

While the Patriots will be going with a running back rotation between Ezekiel Elliott and Rhamondre Stevenson, Elliott will undoubtedly get his touches, especially when they reach the red zone.
