When old is new and it’s cool is what you have at The Thunderbird Lounge located at 1215 Las Vegas Blvd S. The new Thunderbird Lounge pays homage to the Original Thunderbird Lounge as it serves classic cocktails some dating to 1948 when the Original Thunderbird Lounge was a cool place to be. Come down and sit outside on the patio in comfy couch seating with a fire pit just steps from Las Vegas Blvd. Sitting outside you get to take in all the neon wonder of the Las Vegas Strip, which is a pretty cool place to hang with your friends.
The drinks are priced, and they offer a unique Happy Hour. It’s called Beat the Clock Happy Hour. In the 3:00 hour Happy Hour Specials are $3, In the 4:00 hour prices are $4, 5:00 Hour $5 and $6 in the final Happy Hour which goes to 7 pm.
The food is the big addition as I attended a menu tasting and was quite impressed as this isn’t your usual bar food grub. I enjoyed everything I tried but my two favorites by far were the pork belly sliders which were so good and are only $6. The other item was the Grilled Skirt Steak Salad. It comes with Blue Cheese dressing, but I substituted Balsamic dressing and thoroughly enjoyed it. The steak was great, and the price was just $11.
The Thunderbird Lounge is a one-stop place as they have something to keep everyone entertained. There are plenty of TV’s to watch sports, a pool table, beer pong, live music and DJ’s on special nights. But if you really want to make your night memorable they have not one but two wedding chapels on the property. If getting married isn’t enough of a gamble for you, they also have video poker machines at the bar.
The food was good, the portions are big, and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. I give The Thunderbird Lounge a rating of 3.75 Forks.
