Bayern Munich Roster, Injuries, and Betting News

Bayern Munich are coming off their 11th consecutive title-winning season in the Bundesliga, but an underwhelming run (at least by their lofty standards) in the UCL. Last year, Bayern’s elimination in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, as well as the team’s unusually difficult time winning the Bundesliga, constituted a disappointment for club execs. For that reason, Bayern sacked Manager Julian Nagelsmann in March, midway through the season, and brought in Thomas Tuchel. The latter was unable to pull off an upset of Manchester City in the Champions League round of 16 but did lead the club to another Bundesliga championship.
Bayern sorely missed Robert Lewandowski throughout ’22-23, and they addressed that in a big way by signing goal-scoring machine Harry Kane from Tottenham this summer. So far this year, Kane has lived up to the considerable hype around his move to Munich. In his first four starts in the Bundesliga, Kane has scored four goals and added an assist. Bayern’s addition of an attacking player of Kane’s caliber to a side that scored 92 goals in 38 Bundesliga matches a year ago makes Tuchel’s team one of the most dangerous in the Champions League.
Bayern not only bolstered the attack by signing Kane but improved their midfield and back line with deals for Konrad Laimer and Min-jae Kim, respectively.
The reigning Bundesliga champs are to win Group A and to advance.
Injuries
Bayern Munich’s starting keeper is 35-year-old Sven Ulreich due to a long-term leg injury that Manuel Neuer suffered in Dec. 2022. Bayern’s lineup is otherwise healthy.
Manchester United Roster, Injuries, and Betting News
Manchester United enjoyed a successful first season under ten Hag, finishing in third place to secure a spot in the Champions League this year. The club acquired several top players this summer, including keeper Andre Onana, midfielder Mason Mount, and striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Following those signings, preseason expectations for this club were high, but amid a slew of injuries and a well-publicized spat between Jadon Sancho and ten Hag, ManU are currently dominating headlines for all the wrong reasons. They have a chance to turn things around in the EPL over the next few weeks (their next four league opponents are Burnley, Crystal Palace, Brentford, and Sheffield United), but they desperately need some luck on the injury front — see more on the club’s injury situation below.
The EPL club is to win Group A, and it’s a lock to advance.
ManU’s recently completed loan deal for Sofyan Amrabat could make a big impact, as the Moroccan showed during last year’s World Cup that he can be an elite central midfielder.
Injuries
The list of players who are currently banged up is extensive: starters Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Raphael Varane, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could all miss Wednesday’s match. Wingers Sancho and Antony are also unavailable due to suspension.

Bayern Munich vs. Manchester United Prediction: Bayern Munich 2, Manchester United 0
At home, Bayern Munich would be a clear favorite even if Manchester United were healthy (and not dealing with controversies around two of their best players). Amid all the turmoil around Old Trafford right now, Bayern feel like a slam dunk to control this match. Ten Hag is a good enough manager that I trust he’ll be able to right the ship for ManU eventually, but I don’t think it will happen on Wednesday at Allianz Arena.
