The world will be watching as Bayern Munich host Lionel Messi’s Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) with a spot in the last eight of the UEFA Champions League on the line. Here, we look at Bayern Munich vs. PSG odds, props, and a prediction for Tuesday’s UCL Round of 16 second leg.
The Germans took a 1-0 victory in the French capital in last month’s first leg. Paris native Kingsley Coman scored the lone goal against his boyhood club.
Benjamin Pavard was ejected at the end of that match, leaving Bayern without one of their top defenders. PSG may have bigger issues with the absence of top star Neymar, putting a larger load to carry on Messi and company.

Bayern Munich Roster, Injuries, and Betting News
The 32-time Bundesliga champions have a slight lead over rival Dortmund in the domestic league, and despite a 1-0 lead in the Champions League, will have a tough opponent in PSG. A Round of 16 exit would be a rare occurrence, something that has only happened to the German giants once in the last 11 seasons.
The Bavarians have certainly missed star goalkeeper Manuel Neuer out to injury, and despite an always star-studded roster, they are not unbeatable. The club recently lost three matches ago and is winless in four of its nine league bouts dating back to January.
Even Bayern’s 1-0 win over PSG has been picked apart as a disappointment from the French more than an accomplishment from the Germans. Mbappe was not at full fitness for that match and is expected to be a tougher test in the second leg, so it’s a good thing Bayern is playing at home.
Roster
Manager Julian Nagelsmann has a good roster to compete and get a result at home. After all, Bayern doesn’t necessarily have to win as a tie would be enough to send them to the next round.
The biggest struggles of the season have been trying to replace the quality of some of the world’s best — Neuer out to injury and the departure of arguably the world’s best striker in Robert Lewandowski to FC Barcelona.
Sadio Mané, who arrived over the summer from Liverpool, will be looked at to generate against PSG as will the likes of Kingsley Coman, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sané. Veteran forward Thomas Müller is still a threat at 33 and has a knack for showing up in big moments for the only club he has represented in his career.
All these options at forward will of course be nurtured by the wide game with outside backs Alphonso Davies and Josip Stanišić. Central defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano will also be asked to have solid outings as the back four has prepared for the absence of Pavard.
Injuries
Bayern are without Benjamin Pavard (suspension) along with long-term absentees Lucas Hernandez and Manuel Neuer. Josip Stanisic has recovered from a knock and could play.
Paris Saint-Germain Roster, Injuries, and Betting News

This PSG squad was built for one thing and that is to win the UEFA Champions League. The closest this team came was in the 2019-20 edition where it was denied in the final by, coincidentally, Bayern Munich.
Every big-name signing over the last decade has been made for this one trophy that continues to elude the French side. With Lionel Messi on the roster, only a UCL conquest will be considered a success.
Messi’s future at PSG is a continuing storyline, with the Argentine’s contract reportedly ending this summer and MLS side Inter Miami heavily interested in bringing the World Cup champion stateside. There is always the possibility of a Barcelona return and all these factors increase the urgency for the French side to win now.
PSG, as it usually does, is walking through its domestic competition with an eight-point cushion at the top of the standings. A league title is a minimum requirement but only a Champions League trophy will earn the Parisian club worldwide respect and, for that, they need to beat Bayern and move on to the next round.
Roster
Any club in the world would love to have the services of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in its frontline. PSG will have the two World Cup winners motivated to score and a constant threat to the Bayern defense.
The midfield will have Italian Marco Verratti leading a corps of talented midfielders doing the dirty work to feed its star forwards. Nuno Mendes, Fabián Ruiz, and Vitinha are projected to be in the starting lineup for this encounter with Achraf Hakimi also on the traveling squad to Munich.
Sergio Ramos will lead the backline alongside Brazilian Marquinhos. Despite playing as a defender, Ramos has had iconic goals in the Champions League to help former club Real Madrid to four trophies during his time with the Spanish giants, and PSG will hope he has some of those moments left in the competition.
Injuries
Neymar Jr. is out for three to four months with a right ankle injury. Following the Brazilian’s latest sprain in late February, PSG’s No. 10 will undergo a ligament repair operation to avoid further damage.
The Parisians are also without defender Presnel Kimpembe (Achilles tendon).

Bayern Munich vs. PSG Prediction
This is as important a game as it gets for PSG. Messi and Mbappe have to step up to guide the French side over a yearly UCL contender in Bayern Munich.
Bayern has won the Champions League in recent times. However, they are undergoing a transitional period in their squad but are still a very capable contender. To beat the Germans, it’s going to take some moments of individual brilliance from the world’s best.
Considering a PSG exit would be a bigger upset, and one accompanied by heavy scrutiny, they will either live up and take the stage or fall apart like they did last year. A sidelined Neymar will be a loss, but there is enough firepower in the frontline to win this one by more than one.
