A couple of weeks ago, I was writing about Mabel’s BBQ that recently opened at the Palms. Now we have another brand new BBQ joint in North Las Vegas as Beaumont’s Southern Kitchen is open at Texas Station on North Rancho Drive.
I attended the media event so I got to try a bunch of items off the menu. They brought us out several appetizers and man, did they hit the ground running.
The very first item was the Chicken-Fried Bacon. It was my favorite of the night. I mean let’s get real. Bacon and you deep-fry it? What a combination. They actually fry pork belly so it’s crunchy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. Trust me, this was very good.
Next was Elote Street Corn which was brushed with a chipotle mayo, queso fresco, chili spice and lime. Another appetizer which will be quite popular is “The Doobie.” It’s a quesadilla rolled fat and happy with cheddar, queso, flaming Cheetos and your choice of brisket, pork or chicken. If you have the munchies this will fix that as this is a big-size appetizer.
The Mac ‘n’ Cheese Bites were very good as well. One other appetizer that was interesting was the Chicken Fried Ribs. They take hickory-smoked, thick-cut ribs, batter them and fry them. This was a different twist on ribs.
As for the main course, we got to try a lot as they brought us out a big platter with sliced brisket, pulled pork, hot link sausages, smoked chicken and St. Louis style ribs.
My two favorites were the ribs and the pulled pork. They had several BBQ sauces to put on the meats, from sweet and savory to a vinegar base and a mustard base. There even was one sauce that had a Hawaiian pineapple flavor.
One of the best things on the platter was the fresh hot honey baked cornbread served with cinnamon butter. They were baked in the shape of Twinkies and were so good.
For dessert, they brought us out a few items to try. The first was their Black Bottom Pie that had an Oreo cookie crust, dark chocolate pudding and topped with molasses whipped cream. This was very good but very rich.
We had a Chocolate Pecan Ball, Giant Éclair and a cobbler served hot in a skillet with ice cream. By this time, I was stuffed and just tried a bite of each, but everything was very good.
They have a really nice bar set up with TV’s to have a cocktail or two while eating and watching a game. I give Beaumont’s Southern Kitchen 3.50 Forks.
