There will still be concern over Patrick Mahomes’ ankle leading up to the game. But with how he performed during the AFC title game, there may not be as much focus—barring a setback during practice. Of course, the Eagles pass rush will undoubtedly put the ankle to the test early and often.
But the key for the Chiefs may not be Mahomes and his ankle, but whether the defense can slow down the Eagles offense. During the 2021 season, Hurts threw for 378 yards against the Chiefs (Week 4), but the Eagles offense has become much more balanced; during the regular season, the run game ranked No. 5 and the pass game No. 9.
Kansas City had a top-ten run defense during the regular season, allowing 107.2 ypg on the ground, and has given up a similar number in the playoffs (107.5 ypg).
Betting Analysis
The Eagles are the more well-rounded team of the two, with solid units on both sides of the ball. However, while the explosive potential of the Kansas City offense is unquestioned, it is hard to feel as confident about the Chiefs defense. It handled Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense pretty well, but Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense are more dynamic.
It will be an entertaining, hard-fought, close game. But the Eagles defense will have more success against the Chiefs offense than the Kansas City defense will have against the Philadelphia offense.

Golden State has struggled on the road this season, which was evident in their last game, a 134-117 loss to the Nuggets in Denver (Warriors are 7-20 on the road this season). Returning home, where they are 19-6, is what they need to get back on the right side of the scoreboard and win a game.
It certainly helps that Dallas has had issues on the road, much like Golden State has; Mavericks are 9-16 away from home. To make matters worse for the Mavericks, Luka Doncic left Thursday night’s game against the Pelicans with an injury (bruised right heel).
With Doncic in the lineup, the Mavericks are a solid team (28-9). But without him, they tend to struggle (0-6).
Betting Analysis
The Mavericks built an 84-57 lead over the Pelicans with Luke in the lineup. With a little over a quarter and a half to play, the lead should have been safe—but it wasn’t. New Orleans got within four points, 108-104, with less than a minute to go, and lost by five, 111-106.
If Doncic is out, the decision is easy—take the Warriors. But if he does play, the decision gets a lot tougher. Dallas is a much better team with him, but Golden State is tough to beat at home. Rather than pick a winner, the better play may be the total:
- Over is 10-14-1 for the Warriors at home this season and 2-2-1 for the last five games.
- Over is 12-13 for Mavericks on the road and 1-4 for the last five games.
