Baltimore Orioles vs. Houston Astros NRFI (+110, FanDuel) 

This matchup features two offenses that rank in the top 10 in wRC+, fWAR, and runs scored. Obviously, that can make things tough when picking an NRFI bet, and both starting pitchers having an ERA above 4.00 is also concerning. 

However, Hunter Brown from the Astros and Kyle Gibson of the Orioles have been sharp lately. Gibson has produced a quality start in his last two appearances, and while Brown has struggled over his last four starts, he has not given up a first-inning run in any of those games. 

Baltimore ranks towards the bottom in runs scored in the first inning this season, and over the last three games, both Houston and Baltimore have only scored in the first inning once. Both teams rank in the top 12 in NRFI record this season, and last night, a run was scored thanks to a Kyle Tucker double in the bottom of the first with two outs. We were just one pitch away from cashing the NRFI prop last night, which makes us feel good about tonight’s Orioles vs. Astros NRFI odds. 

Although the top of both lineups in this game is scary to face, we have two pitchers who have been profitable on NRFI prop bets this season, and Brown and Gibson are both due for some positive regression. 

New York Mets vs. Miami Marlins NRFI (-115, FanDuel)

No team in baseball is better at cashing an NRFI prop ticket this season than the Miami Marlins. They are 93-58 NRFI this season, and they also have the most home games without a first-inning score this season, with a record of 52-24. 

Meanwhile, the Mets are towards the middle of the league in NRFI bets, but they still have a winning record and a surging Joey Lucchesi on the mound tonight. Over his last three starts, Lucchesi has only allowed one run in 14.2 IP, and while he is due for some significant regression, Miami’s offense is also in for a massive cool-down. 

Miami has scored 42 runs over the last seven calendar days, which ranks second in baseball. But, they are also striking out at a high clip, and most of their production came in a series against the Braves, where they performed above expectations at an unsustainable clip. 

The Marlins will send out Braxton Garrett to get the start tonight, and despite the expected regression, Garrett has been sharp in the first inning this season, as he has only allowed eight runs and has a 2.57 ERA. 

New York’s offense is very top-heavy, with guys like Brandon Nimmo, Francisco Lindor, and Pete Alsonso all slotted in the top four of the lineup. However, Garrett has been pitching very well as of late, and he should be able to take care of this Mets lineup, at least for the first three outs of the game.
