When we last saw the Chicago White Sox they were being eliminated from the playoffs by the Astros, much to the chagrin of their Curmudgeon-In-Chief Tony La Russa. Any bad feelings from their postseason exit have long since blown away, and the optimism that comes from being the clear favorite to win their division has emerged.

The White Sox won 93 games and easily captured the AL Central in ’21. But their opponents are better-tooled, which means the team will have to have good play and good fortune to remain at the top of their division.

White Sox Division, Pennant, World Series Odds

Sportsbooks have the White Sox among the favorites to win the AL pennant. Both BetMGM and Caesars are offering +550 on the ChiSox to capture the AL flag. That means the books think the White Sox, Astros, Blue Jays, and Yankees are the most likely to advance to the World Series.

Other White Sox Bets of Note:

  • Chicago White Sox To Make The Playoffs: Yes (-380) No (+300)
  • Chicago White Sox To Win AL Central: -200
  • Chicago White Sox To Win Pennant: +550
  • Chicago White Sox To Win the World Series: +1200

A winning $50 wager on the White Sox to get to and win their first World Series since 2005 would pay $600. Which is enough to take your family of four to the Shedd Aquarium and dinner at a steak restaurant in downtown Chicago.

I like the core of the Sox lineup and their deep starting rotation. A wager on them winning the Fall Classic makes sense, because it’s stars and pitching that win in October.

The above odds are from Caesars Sportsbook, as of 5 PM ET on March 31.

The Sox took control of the AL Central in early May last season, and played remarkably consistent baseball to finish in first place. Chicago did not have a losing month in 2021, though they did take the foot off the gas a little after the All-Star break, playing .534 ball.

Despite the Twins and Tigers getting better, the Pale House are the class of the AL Central because of their formidable middle of the order and superior starting pitching. Tom Tango’s Marcel Projection System over at Baseball-Reference predicts that four Chicago starting pitchers will log at least 150 IP with an ERA under 4.50 in ’22. With Lucas Giolito, Dylan Cease, Dallas Keuchel, and Lance Lynn at his disposal, La Russa has the upper hand on his rivals in the division.

BETTING TIP: Even though he’s 35, Lance Lynn is a good risk for a Cy Young Award bet in ’22. The righty from Indianapolis finished third in CY voting last season. He’s +2000 at Caesars to win that award, as compared to +1100 for teammate Lucas Giolito.

White Sox Player Futures Bets

The White Sox have a handful of players who could grab leadership in statistical categories in 2022, or win a major award.

José Abreu has already won an MVP Award, but as long as you drive in loads of runs, voters will throw support at you, and the Cuban slugger is sure to pile up ribbies in 2022. He’ll have Tim Anderson and Luis Robert hitting in front of him, and his protégé, Yoán Moncada protecting him in the order.

Those four players will fuel the White Sox lineup, and if they all stay healthy, the runs should be as common as a mosquito at a campground.

Here are Futures Bets for some of the key players on the White Sox (odds via Caesars Sportsbook):

  • José Abreu To Lead MLB in RBI: +2000
  • Luis Robert To Lead MLB in HR: +7500
  • Tim Anderson To Lead MLB in Runs Scored: +3000
