The primetime Thanksgiving game is special. It’s the background music to your feast-induced food coma. The theme song to the kids running around the living room after pie. The last 3+ hours of football before your head hits the pillow on Black Friday Eve.

The Pats will be looking to slow the Vikings, who BetMGM Sportsbook now prices at +1800 to win the Super Bowl and +800 to win the NFC. New England is jostling for playoff position in a tough AFC East and still trying to learn how capable quarterback Mac Jones is at leading an offense that likes to run first, run second, and run as a third option, if it can.

Thanksgiving NFL Game Previews, Nov. 24

Buffalo Bills at Detroit Lions, 12:30 p.m. EST

The NFL schedule maker made sure to invite a good team to play in the traditional Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit. That’s because the Lions are usually as lively as the turkey on that day.

This year, it might be hard to know which is the home team, seeing as how the Bills will play their Week 11 game in the Motor City thanks to the snowstorm inflicted on western New York by Mother Nature. The “Detroit” Bills will play two games in five days in Michigan and are sure to be big favorites in the early Thanksgiving game.

The Bills are completing a three-game stretch against Corn Belt teams (Minnesota, Cleveland, and Detroit), and entering Week 11 against Cleveland, the once-mighty Bills seem less-lofty after a two-game losing skid. Buffalo’s defense looked vulnerable in losses to the Jets and Vikings, two likely playoff teams. But Josh Allen has to be licking his fingers before having his ham and stuffing, at the prospect of facing the porous Detroit defense, which ranks last in the NFL, based on points allowed, and second-to-last in yards surrendered.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys, 4:30 p.m. EST

It’s the Odell Beckham Bowl! One of these rivals will likely have the former All-Pro wide receiver in uniform for the annual Turkey Day Tilt in Texas. At least one observer thinks Beckham, a free agent after recovering from an injury suffered in the Super Bowl in February, will pick the G-Men.

“If I’m a betting man right now, I’d flip a coin between New York and Dallas,” Beckham’s high school coach Nelson Stewart told Ian O’Connor of the New York Post. “It’s tight. But of all the teams I’ve heard about, the one that really resonates a little bit more is New York.”

The Cowboys and the Giants could conceivably hunt down the Eagles, but this game will be critical in shuffling the playoff hopes of both. The Giants should be slight underdogs on the road, with odds coming after Sunday’s games.
