How Same Game Parlays Work at BetMGM

A same game parlay or SGP is a collection of two or more bets combined into a single wager on the same game. For example, you could build an SGP combining a bet on your team to win, the running back to score a touchdown, and the quarterback to throw over a set threshold of passing yards. There are many more options than those specific bets, but they’re a good example. Each individual bet in an SGP is called a “leg.” Every single leg in a parlay (including an SGP) must be successful for you to win the bet. This results in SGPs having high potential payouts but lower chances of winning than, say a moneyline bet on its own.

However, sportsbooks tend to make SGPs more enticing with side offers. BetMGM offers many SGP deals, including insurance. SGP insurance typically gives you your wager back if (and only if) one leg of the SGP fails. The refund is given as bonus bets.

Other bonuses can be attached to SGPs as long as the sportsbook’s terms and conditions allow it. For example, BetMGM might offer a same game parlay boost, which increases the potential winnings of an SGP.

Finally, SGPs may come with an early cashout option. If your legs are all doing well, the sportsbook might offer you a profitable cashout that isn’t quite as much as you’d win if you let the whole bet play out.

How to Place a Same Game Parlay at BetMGM

BetMGM makes SGPs incredibly easy. Find the game or match for which you want to build an SGP. Select the “Build Parlay” option. BetMGM will open a page with all the available bets you can include in your SGP. Select two or more (there is usually a maximum of 10 to 12, but we never recommend going that high) to build your SGP.

BetMGM Same Game Parlay Recommendations

The San Francisco 49ers are narrow favorites in the Super Bowl, but we like how good the Chiefs have played in the postseason. Our recommended same game parlay hinges on a high-scoring game with strong offensive showings from both teams.

  • Total: Over 47.5 (Best Live Odds: )
  • Christian McCaffrey Anytime TD Scorer (Best Live Odds: )
  • Travis Kelce Anytime TD Scorer (Best Live Odds: )
  • Brock Purdy Over 199.5 Passing Yards (Best Live Odds: )
  • Patrick Mahomes Over 229.5 Passing Yards (Best Live Odds: )

This Super Bowl 58 SGP has total odds of +425, at the time of this writing. A $100 bet would pay out $525 ($425 plus the original bet back) if successful. With those odds, the SGP has an implied probability of 19.05%.

As evidenced by the bets I’ve included, I’m expecting a showdown between two highly capable offensive teams. If you’re not quite as confident, you can remove a leg or two and take a hit on the odds but make the bet more likely to hit.

Tips and Strategies for SGPs at BetMGM Sportsbook

Here are three of our primary tips for bettors placing same game parlays on the Super Bowl or any other sport.

Don’t Go Overboard

This advice applies to betting in general. For SGPs in particular, we recommend keeping them between three and five legs. The more legs you include, the less likely you are to win.

Keep Potential Contradictions in Mind

It’s easy to get caught up in the rush of building the same game parlay, but exercise caution. Don’t pair contradictory bets together, such as the Chiefs to win and 49ers players to score many touchdowns.

Look for Promotions

Promotions such as parlay insurance, odds boosts, and early cashouts can be super helpful in maximizing your potential win or providing a safety net if your bet is a near-winner with one leg that misses.
