I love when I find a new neighborhood place to eat. I especially like the little mom-and- pop-type places rather than a big chain restaurant.

This week, I found Betty’s Bistro located at 6496 S. Medical Center St. Suite 102. Betty’s isn’t a big place, but honestly, that’s a good thing. I like the atmosphere as you can enjoy breakfast while working on your laptop without distractions.

For breakfast, I ordered the My Omelet which was a three-egg omelet with either bacon or sausage and what ever fillings you would like to add, along with Betty’s Hash and toast for $8. It was excellent and at $8 a great value.

My wife Lori had the breakfast burrito which was also $8. On my next breakfast visit I have to try the french toast as it’s done in a Creme Brûlée batter. That sounds so good as I love creme brûlée.

Betty’s Bistro has a nice selection of coffees and tea, as well as Lattes and Frappes. It also has a full lunch menu, geared to healthy eating. There are six different salads available, including the Steak Lovers Salad which was Peppercorn-crusted steak with roasted tomatoes, red onions, Parmesan cheese and balsamic vinaigrette on a bed of spinach.

They have paninis and wraps with the house favorite being the Betty’s Cuban, a version of the classic Cuban Sandwich. There are also four different Bowls. My top choice would be the Peppercorn Steak Bowl served with Peppercorn-crusted strip steak, Bell peppers, broccoli, red onions, balsamic glaze and either white or brown rice.

Betty’s Bistro also has a nice selection of pasta meals for the heartier appetites.

If you are in a hurry and want something good to grab on the go they have a bunch of different smoothies. I highly recommend the Peanut Buttery Monster which is peanut butter, Nutella, banana and almond milk. All the smoothies are $7.

Betty’s Bistro serves nice size portions at reasonable prices. The wait staff is extremely friendly. I give Betty’s Bistro 3.75 Forks.
