One of the best and most simple foods is a burger. As you know from many of my past reviews, there is no shortage of good burger joints here in Las Vegas.
From drive thru places to gourmet burger joints on the Strip we have it all right here in Sin City. A few weeks back I was at the Mirage on a Saturday. It was a busy Saturday between poker, football, baseball and playing the ponies. Hey, who am I kidding, that is pretty much my schedule 7 days a week. Just ask my wife.
Bottom line is, when you put in a full day like that, you work up an appetite.
I was at the Mirage with my buddy JR and when he finally busted out of the poker tournament it was time to get something to eat. Yes, I was in the same tournament and, yes, he won the “last longer” bet between us so when we went to dinner I was buying.
We were feeling like a burger so I suggested BLT Burger located inside Mirage. I hadn’t been here yet but had heard a lot of good things about the place, so BLT it was. Being it was a Saturday night the place was busy. We had to wait in line, but were seated within 15 minutes so that wasn’t bad at all.
BLT has an extensive selection of draft beers on tap as I counted 20 to choose from. If you are not feeling like alcohol I would suggest checking out their milkshake offerings. These are not your ordinary milkshakes as they have some very creative combinations. The Monkey Business milkshake is vanilla ice cream, bananas, peanut butter and chocolate. The Lunch Box is vanilla ice cream, peanut butter and grape jelly.
There are adult milkshake offerings as well like the All Nighter, which is made of Kahlua, Bailey’s, espresso and coffee ice cream. They also have the Malibu Barbie milkshake with Malibu rum, pineapple juice, coconut milk and vanilla ice cream.
Ordering a burger was not an easy task as they offer 13 different combinations. I went with the Cowboy Burger, which was made with BBQ chipotle, tobacco onions, lettuce, tomato, bacon and pepper jack cheese. I enjoyed this burger immensely as it was extremely flavorful and cooked just the way I ordered it. It was well worth the $14 price.
You can make your burger a combo by adding fries and either a fountain drink, $19, milkshake, $21, or a draft beer, $23. You even have options when it comes to your fries as they have skinny, fat or waffle.
The burgers are so huge that to my dismay I had no room for dessert. What a bummer as BLT Burger had several interesting choices like deep fried Oreos. Don’t knock it till you have tried them, trust me. They also had fresh-made Cinnamon Sugar and Orange glazed doughnuts.
The problem is, if you had a milkshake with your burger didn’t you really already have your dessert?
BLT was a fun experience, delivering a quality burger. The staff was very friendly and attentive even with the place being extremely busy. I give BLT Burger a rating of 3.50 forks.
