If you like sushi at some time you probably went to Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill in the Cosmopolitan.
It was a sad day for sushi lovers when it closed at the Cosmo. Well I have good news to report. Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill is alive and well as sushi lovers on the Northwest side of Las Vegas can now enjoy Blue Ribbon again as they just opened less than two months ago inside the Red Rock Resort.
I finally got to make my way over to try the new location. On my first visit, I started off with the House Salad and quickly remembered how much I missed that Ginger Salad dressing. Next, we enjoyed a Chef’s Choice Sashimi Platter which was tremendous. Everything was so fresh and flavorful.
We also had an order of Miso-marinated Chilean Sea Bass. The Sea Bass was my favorite part of the meal as it just melted in your mouth. We had an order of Vegetable Fried Rice which had an assortment of vegetables, mushrooms and topped with a fried poached egg and is my wife’s favorite. For me, my go-to fried rice is Blue Ribbon’s Oxtail Fried Rice.
At this point, we could have stopped and been satisfied. But I had to meet up with an old friend.
I have to let you in on a little secret way back when I went to the first Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill at the Cosmo, I didn’t go for sushi. I went for this chicken I kept hearing about. Everyone that ever went to Blue Ribbon all said the same thing to me and that was you got to try the fried chicken.
I know that sounds strange but truer words have never been spoken. The Blue Ribbon Chicken with its special batter and sauces to dip in is some of the best damn fried chicken in all of Las Vegas. Just trust me on this one.
After devouring a bucket of wings, I was about ready to explode from all the food we ate. But we still had the temptation of dessert. And even though I probably didn’t need to have it, we had the Gingerbread Pudding served with Ginger ice cream and caramel sauce.
This was such a light and refreshing dessert as both Lori and I enjoyed it immensely. I’ll be the first to admit I’m usually not a big fan of desserts at sushi places, but I will be ordering this dessert again.
Red Rock has had several different restaurants go thru this spot in the casino over the last few years. But with Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill I think they have found a long-term tenant. I give it 3.75 Forks.
