There is nothing I like to do better than watch sports and eat good food. There are sports bars all over Las Vegas, but let’s face it most of them are all the same.

You have a smoke filled bar with TV’s and greasy food. Yes that would satisfy the definition of a sports bar, but I want and expect more. I had been hearing a lot of good things about Born And Raised for some time now and checked it out for myself. Born and Raised (BAR for short) is located at 7260 S. Cimarron Road or take Warm Springs between Buffalo and Durango. They are open 24/7.

The minute I walked into BAR I knew this wasn’t your typical sports lounge. The giant wall has 16 televisions for your viewing pleasure. In addition to the impressive TV wall is the lounge like atmosphere with booths and couches sitting for your comfort while watching your favorite teams play.

It’s a laid back place but an upscale way to watch your sporting events. In the main bar section there are tables with TV’s both in front of you above the bar and behind on the back wall so no matter where the seat there is a television in front of you for viewing.

So now that we have established being able to watch all of our games in comfort let’s get to the important part – the food.

Born and Raised offers a menu that is beyond what you might expect. I was here on a Saturday night with plenty of games on the card. I started with some appetizers and my first choice was the Eggplant Bites. I may have found my new favorite appetizer.

These bites were simply amazing and an absolute must to try. I’m also a big fan of their Grilled Artichoke. If you like sliders, there are 15 different ones to choose from. And not just your normal burger sliders; we’re talking some gourmet combinations.

Like to gamble? Well if you can eat all 15 sliders in one hour they are free. If you can’t, you owe the house $50. I can eat a lot, but know better than to take this bet.

I also had some of their Baby Back Ribs made with a tangy Jack Daniels sauce. Hey, when you’re starting with Jack Daniels how can you go wrong, right? The ribs were very good as the meat fell right off the bone. I enjoyed them even though I was watching Oklahoma St. blowing its game to Texas.

I was enjoying the food when I didn’t let the blown call by the refs, which cost me a big bet, bother me. Actually, the good food eased the pain of a gut wrenching loss.

Check out Born and Raised for Monday Night Football as they have ESPN 1100 in the house and $5 appetizer specials along with $2 Coors light. BAR is one of my favorite off-Strip sports bars. I give it 3.75 Forks.
