McIlroy Atop SuperBook’s Open Betting Board

Rory McIlroy is the favorite to win the 2022 British Open at odds of +1000 at the SuperBook. Here are the top-10 betting choices as of Monday:

SuperBook USA vice president of risk management Jeff Sherman said in a text to Gaming Today on Monday that his book has liabilities on McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Scottie Scheffler, and Max Homa. The SuperBook took a $6,00o bet on McIlroy at +1000, a $5,000 wager on Koepka at +1800, and a $7,000 bet on Scheffler at +1600.

Major Line Movements for Big Name Players

Bryson DeChambeau‘s odds have ballooned to +10000 from a +4000 opener, and Tiger Woods has seen his odds rise from +5000 to +10000 at the SuperBook.

Scottish Open winner Xander Schauffele‘s odds have shortened to +1400 from +2500. Schauffele has won the past two tournaments he’s competed in, also including the Travelers Championship.

Meanwhile, Circa Sportsbook Manager Jeff Davis adjusted odds on several players including McIlroy, who was lengthened from +1050 last week to +1150 as of Monday. Defending British Open champion Collin Morikawa saw his odds rise from +2200 to +2700. Circa was offering nice value on Will Zalatoris at +3100, an upward shift from +2500 last week.

McIlroy, Zalatoris Lead Early Ticket Count at BetMGM

BetMGM has written the most tickets on favorite McIlroy in advanced wagering on the British Open, according to a post on the sportsbook’s blog. The Northern Ireland native leads BetMGM’s ticket count with 8.2% of all tickets written on him. McIlroy, who is +1000 at BetMGM as of Monday, won the 2014 British Open at Royal Liverpool.

McIlroy also leads the betting handle at BetMGM at 14.8%.

Young gun Zalatoris holds the second-highest ticket percentage at 7.1%. Zalatoris, +2500 at BetMGM, has been knocking on the door of capturing his first major victory in 2022. He finished T-6 at the Masters, solo second at the PGA Championship, and T-2 at the US Open. Zalatoris’ recent form had been impressive prior to his missed cut at the Genesis Scottish Open last week.

Scheffler (6.3%) and Tiger Woods (6.2%) are also among the ticket count leaders at BetMGM. Scheffler has drawn 10.7% of the overall money, and Woods checks in third at 9.7% of the handle.
