One of the most highly anticipated college football games of the season takes place this weekend. The annual Army-Navy Game is set for Saturday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. ET as these two programs go head-to-head for the 132nd consecutive year.

The Army Black Knights will be looking to avenge last year’s loss. The Navy Midshipmen outplayed their college football rival en route to a 17-13 victory at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey.

Let’s take a look at the betting odds, props, and make some predictions for Navy Midshipmen vs. Army Black Knights.

Navy vs. Army Betting Lines: Points Spread, Moneyline, Total

The Army Black Knights opened as a -2 favorite against the Navy Midshipmen. Sharp bettors quickly pounced and flooded the betting market with heavy action on Navy. The point spread has swung more than four points towards the Midshipmen. As of this writing, Navy is a -2.5 favorite after opening as a +2 underdog.

It’s no secret to bettors or bookmakers that the Under is the most popular bet for service academy football games — and for good reason! The Under has hit in the annual Army-Navy Game for 16 consecutive years. The opening Total of 34.5 was the lowest opening Total on this annual matchup since 1995 and it still wasn’t low enough! Sharp bettors hammered the Under and the Total dropped as low as 32 at most major sportsbooks.

Here are current odds from legal US sportsbooks for the annual Army-Navy Game.

Navy vs. Army Betting News

Bowl eligibility is on the line for the Army Black Knights in this rivalry game. With a record of 5-6 on the season, a win against Navy will keep the Black Knights’ dreams of playing in a college bowl alive.

The Black Knights enter this matchup against the Midshipmen in fine form, with back-to-back blowout wins over UMass and Connecticut. Army’s triple-option rushing attack leaves opponents frustrated. The Black Knights grind out rushing yards, keep the game clock running, and dominate the time of possession. It’s an effective strategy that wears opponents down and produces solid offensive yards. The Black Knights rank second in the country, averaging more than 300 (!) rushing yards per game.

Navy enters this matchup with plenty of momentum. While they are no longer bowl eligible, the Midshipmen have plenty to be proud of this season.

It’s no surprise the Midshipmen continue to take sharp money on this Academy matchup. Navy is coming off an upset victory over Central Florida, a game they entered as 14.5-point underdogs. The week prior, Navy hosted Notre Dame, one of the top football programs in the country. Although they lost that game 35-32, keeping it to within a field goal against a dynasty like the Fighting Irish is a huge accomplishment for a service academy.

Expect both programs to show up hungry and put forth a strong effort in this annual rivalry game.

Navy Midshipmen vs. Army Black Knights Prediction

The battle to watch in this matchup is between Army’s rushing attack and Navy’s impressive rush defense. While Army ranks second in the nation in rushing yards gained, Navy ranks fourth in rushing yards allowed. The Midshipmen have allowed only 85 yards per game this season.

While it’s rarely a good idea to chase a line that’s moved this much, there is value in backing the Navy Midshipmen here. They may not have as impressive a straight-up record as Army, but they’ve played a far superior class of opponent in 2022. They’re also an impressive 7-4 against the spread on the season.

Betting the Under will be the most popular pick of the weekend. Unfortunately, the current Total at 32 is simply too low for any action. At this number, it’s best to avoid it altogether.

Back Navy to cover this short spread against an inferior Army team.

Navy vs. Army Props

There are a number of betting props available for Navy vs. Army:

Navy to Win by Exactly 1 to 6 Points (+300)

Anyone interested in backing Navy to win this game should consider sprinkling a small bet on this prop. In the last ten Army-Navy games, the winning margin has been seven points or less in eight of those contests.

This number feels a little high considering how close these Academy games tend to be. While Navy is the better overall team, both offenses are extremely run heavy, meaning a low-scoring affair. The Under has hit an incredible 16 straight games, so it’s unlikely either team runs away with this one.

Betting Navy to win by exactly 1 to 6 points at +300 is our favorite Army-Navy prop.

Navy to Score First and Win (Yes +165)

Another angle to play is the “Navy to score first and win” prop offered at select sportsbooks. With a low-scoring affair expected, points will be at a premium. Army, in particular, will struggle to score as their run-first scheme matches very poorly with Navy’s stout run defense.

Like the above prop, this is another clever way of getting some plus-money value backing Navy as a favorite in this annual matchup.
