Betting Season Win Totals on CFB’s Top Three Teams

Alabama Crimson Tide (O/U 10.5)

Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young is back at QB for another promising Alabama team that opens its season at home September 3 in what should be a veritable scrimmage against Utah State.

Young threw for 4,872 yards and 47 TDs last season en route to winning the Heisman Trophy.

The Crimson Tide lost to Georgia, 33-18, in the College Football Playoff title game back in January. Alabama beat Georgia 41-24 in the SEC Championship game a month earlier.

Alabama’s 12-game regular season features tilts with Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Auburn. The Crimson Tide will have to win three of those four games to cover this season win total number.

Ohio State Buckeyes (O/U 10.5)

Ohio State opens at home against Notre Dame on September 3. This will be a good early barometer for the Buckeyes, who many expect to challenge for the national championship.

Quarterback CJ Stroud finished fourth in the Heisman voting last year, and PFF recently ranked him as the fourth best QB in the nation entering the new season. Stroud will be without two key weapons after Ohio State wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave were both picked early in this year’s NFL Draft.

The good news? Jaxon Smith-Njigba returns after his record-breaking Rose Bowl performance. Njigba had 15 receptions, 336 receiving yards, and three touchdowns in the 48-45 win over Utah. PFF has him ranked as the top WR in the nation this season.

After the opener against Notre Dame, Ohio State will have conference games against Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State, and Michigan.

Georgia Bulldogs (O/U 10.5)

Stetson Bennett is back for another season at QB for Georgia. The controversy surrounding him and previous starter JT Daniels is now moot after Daniels entered the transfer portal and landed at West Virginia. Tight end Brock Bowers returns as the leading receiver for the Bulldogs.

Georgia’s run to last year’s national championship was keyed by its defense, which included the eventual No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. Defensive lineman Travon Walker is now in play-for-pay mode with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. In total, only three starters on the defensive side of the ball returned for the Bulldogs. Georgia will have to shore up the defense if it hopes to repeat.

Like Ohio State, Georgia has an early litmus test in the September 3 opener against Oregon in Atlanta. Aside from the Ducks, other big tests will come against Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, and Mississippi State.
