The Los Angeles Chargers are scheduled to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night in Week 10 of the 2022 NFL season.
The 49ers opened last week as a 3.5-point favorite. But now they are a 7-point choice across the board at the DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and PointsBet sportsbooks.
Let’s take a look at the latest Chargers vs. 49ers odds on Sunday Night Football as well as our prediction.

Chargers-49ers on SNF
The Chargers (5-3 straight up and against the spread) face an assortment of hurdles this week when they play the 49ers in this interconference matchup.
Starting with injury news, QB Justin Herbert (active) will be without leading receiver Mike Williams, who’s out with an ankle issue. And fellow WR, veteran Keenan Allen, who had 106 catches last season, is hampered by a hamstring injury and is unlikely to play.
Then there’s the trouble along the offensive line. The Chargers already had been without standout left tackle Rashawn Slater (biceps) and now also might have to go against San Francisco’s top-ranked defense without right tackle Trey Pipkins (questionable, knee). Yikes! How many sacks will Nick Bosa add to his 8.5 total, which is tied for second-best in the NFL?
At least star RB Austin Ekeler will be ready to go.

Then throw in the fact the Chargers just returned from a cross-country trip to Atlanta — a 20-17 victory over the Falcons — and will face a team off a bye. For what it’s worth, on the sole occasion LA faced a team off a week’s rest last year, it lost 28-13 at Denver as a 2.5-point favorite.
Meanwhile, San Francisco (4-4 SU/ATS), which pounded the Rams in LA two weeks ago, 31-14, is getting healthier and has received a big boost with the trade acquisition of RB Christian McCaffrey, who was a first-team All-Pro selection while with Carolina three seasons ago.
He’ll have the privilege of running behind Pro Bowl OLT Trent Williams, who recently returned from an injury list. Plus WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) is ready to play again after missing the Rams game. He had 1,405 receiving yards last season, fifth-best in the NFL. Also on the mend and who could make his season debut Sunday is cornerback Jason Verrett (knee).
It’s not like the Chargers are in great shape defensively either, for they have yielded more than 200 rushing yards in three of their past four games and have given up a league-worst 5.7 yards a carry this season. The only team in history to do worse was the 1934 Cincinnati Reds, who yielded 6.4 a rush and folded after losing their first eight games.
It gets even worse for LA, which will be without one of its top interior defensive linemen, Austin Johnson, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last week.

Chargers vs. 49ers SNF Prediction
The 49ers certainly are catching the Chargers at the right time with so many of their key performers having health issues.
How about some high-fives for 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (who didn’t even figure to be on the team this year while second-year man Trey Lance was groomed to take over)? But Jimmy G has been in charge since Lance’s season-ending injury in Week 2 and has evolved into the league’s No. 6-rated QB. His norm of 8.1 yards a throw ties him with Buffalo’s Josh Allen for fourth-best in the league.
In closing, Ekeler, who is tied for the league lead with 10 TDs and averages more than 100 yards a game from scrimmage, can’t do it all. San Francisco should have a spy or two on him all game.
Prediction: 49ers 30, Chargers 13
