The Chiefs are coming off another heartbreaking loss after being dominated by the Buffalo Bills at home on Sunday Night Football. Now, the Chiefs are on to Washington to take on the Washington Football Team. KC is a -6 favorite, according to NFL betting odds.

The two worst defenses in the NFL will face off in week 6 and this is a game that Kansas City desperately needs to win. Unfortunately, injuries are putting that W in jeopardy, but there are injuries on both rosters that could make an impact on the game. Both teams are 2-3 and hopes of reaching the playoffs are fading fast for both teams. Especially for the Chiefs who are not only in a tough division but a tough conference.

Chiefs Game Preview (2-3)

The Chiefs have already lost three games this season and we are only entering week 6. But to be fair, the teams that the Chiefs have lost to are all currently 4-1, the Los Angeles Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, and Buffalo Bills. The bad news is that they are all in the AFC, pretty much slashing any hopes of the AFC Championship to return to Kansas City this year. And if the Chiefs want to even make the playoffs (looking more and more like an AFC wild card spot) they need to start winning games.

Patrick Mahomes is clearly trying to do it all himself and he is failing. The offense knows that they need to score on pretty much every possession because the defense can’t stop the opposing team from scoring. And that is a lot of pressure to be putting on not just Mahomes, but the entire offense.

Add in injuries to the mix and it is pretty much a disaster in Kansas City. Something that no one saw coming. In the loss to the Bills, Mahomes threw for only 272 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Tyreek Hill was shut out, ending the game with only 15 rushing yards and 67 receiving yards. Travis Kelce was able to bring in a touchdown, but the offense just wasn’t having a good game.

The defense continues to struggle, allowing the Bills a total of 436 yards and allowing the Buffalo to average 8.1 yards per play.

I wanted to wait to get this story out as close to game time to see what injuries the Chiefs are dealing with. As of now, Chris Jones and Charvarius Ward are out. This is the second game Jones has missed in a row and fourth for Ward. Tyreek Hill and offensive lineman Joe Thuney are dealing with injuries and have been listed as questionable. But the word on the street is that they will probably play. Luckily for Kansas City, Washington is dealing with its own slew of injuries.

Washington Football Team Game Preview (2-3)

The Washington Football Team has been struggling this year as well. The team is without Ryan Fitzpatrick and Taylor Heinicke has had to step up to lead the offense, which he hasn’t done a bad job at. But he did struggle last week against the New Orleans Saints, throwing for 248 yards ending the game ended the game by going 20 for 41 with no touchdowns, but two interceptions.

Heinicke does have a lot of weapons in his offense, including Antonio Gibson who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns last week. Washington seems to be struggling with their rushing game, which is good news for the Chiefs’ defense since they haven’t been able to stop the run all game.

Washington’s defense also hasn’t been impressive. I think we were all expecting much more from rookie Chase Young, even though he racked up a sack against the Saints. But the only other team in the league with the worst defense? The Kansas City Chiefs.

I have been dabbling with sports betting apps lately since it is now legal in Arizona, but this is one game I don’t want to wager on. The Chiefs should end up winning this game, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Washington comes out with the W.
