Normally I’m writing about one of our many fine restaurants we have here in the Vegas Valley, but it’s been quite a while since I have done one of my Road Trip Reviews. If I venture out of town and go somewhere that is a reasonable drive from Las Vegas, I’ll share it when I find a good place to eat.
Last week I took the wife to Laughlin to see Luke Bryan in concert. Lori is a big-time country music fan and since she hadn’t seen a lot of me during March Madness it was a good getaway to head to Laughlin for the weekend. This was my way of saying thank you for putting up with my work schedule.
I’m always looking to find those great little places people may not know about but really should. We went to Chuckwagon Restaurant located inside Regency Casino. When you are going down Casino Drive between the big towers of Riverside and Edgewater Casinos there is the Regency.
It’s more like a neighborhood bar with slot machines and video poker. There are pool tables to hang out and have fun with friends. What drew me to this place was the fact they had a restaurant that overlooked the Colorado River. Spending a hot Saturday afternoon grabbing a bite to eat and a cold one while watching all the activity on the river seemed like a great idea. I also wanted to see why the locals voted this place the best burger in Laughlin the last three years in a row.
I’m always up for a great burger and at Chuckwagon they have 19 different gourmet options. If you make it there on a Wednesday, you can enjoy any burger for 50% off. I went with the Mushroom Swiss Burger. All the burgers are fresh, handmade never frozen, and served with fries.
My Mushroom Swiss Burger was $10.99 and worth every penny. The patty was juicy and loaded with grilled mushrooms, onions and melted Swiss cheese.
Lori went with the Western Burger. She normally doesn’t finish a burger this size but did this time. She loved their BBQ sauce and the bacon was nice and crispy. I clearly understand how the locals voted this place Best Burger three years running.
The Chuckwagon has food items other than burgers but I’ve got to be honest, I don’t get to Laughlin that often. When I do I’ll be ordering another burger as I still have 18 other gourmet options left to try.
If you want to catch a concert, the Laughlin Events Center is a great venue. I will be back for another concert soon and having a burger before the show on the River. I give Chuckwagon 3.75 Forks out of 4.
