Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors Betting News

The Clippers sit sixth in the Western Conference but found themselves as high as third last week. Three straight losses after a number of key acquisitions at the NBA’s trade deadline have them sliding down the standings. The Clippers added 2016-17 NBA MVP Russell Westbrook to their lineup. The former star is averaging just 15 points over 30 minutes with his new team.

The Clippers own a 33-31 regular season record which is just half a game ahead of seventh place. They look to get back on track tonight against Golden State and secure a higher seed going into the playoffs. With only a few games separating more than ten teams in the Western Conference, every game counts for the Clippers.

The Golden State Warriors also find themselves in the thick of the NBA Playoff picture in the Western Conference. The Warriors own a 32-30 overall record, good for fifth place in the West. This year’s playoff race is wide open in the Western Conference. While the Nuggets, Grizzlies, and Kings are separating themselves from the pack, there’s just a four-and-a-half game difference between fourth and 13th places in the Western Conference!

Unlike the Clippers, the Warriors are building momentum at the right time. They ride a modest three-game win streak heading into tonight’s contest. As one of the league’s best offensive teams, the Warriors can score in bunches. They average more than 118 points per game on a league-leading three-point shooting percentage.

The Warriors have been one of the most impressive teams at home, going 25-7, but they completely fall apart on the road. They also have one of the league’s worst visiting records, stumbling to a 6-23 record outside their home arena.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors Injury Updates

The Clippers have only one player listed on their official injury report ahead of tonight’s game. Forward Moussa Diabate is day-to-day with an undisclosed illness. Diabate missed the Clippers’ most recent game against the Timberwolves.

Warriors’ superstar Steph Curry remains sidelined with torn ligaments in his left leg and is out indefinitely. Curry has missed significant playing time and was last seen leaving the floor on Feb. 4 against the Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors released some good news today regarding Curry’s return. Sources close to the team suggest Curry could be ready to go as early as Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Other Warriors’ injuries include SF Andrew Wiggins and SG Ryan Rollings. Both players are listed as questionable for tonight’s game.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors Prediction

As of this writing, bettors are split in this late-night matchup. The point spread has moved from +3 to +2.5 in the Warriors’ direction, but both the betting tickets and handle are coming in close to 50/50 for this marquee game.

This will be the third time these teams square off this season. The season series is split at one game apiece. The Warriors cruised to a 124-107 victory in November, while the Clippers took care of business, 134-124, two weeks ago. This will be the first time the Warriors face the newly acquired Westbrook in the Clippers’ lineup. He’s lost all three games he’s played with the Clippers.

It’s no secret that the Warriors are a completely different team at home than on the road. Their 25-7 mark at home is the best in the NBA, and bettors are getting points in this matchup? Against a struggling Clippers team still working on the Westbrook chemistry?

Look for the Warriors to continue their home dominance tonight. Take the points.

The Pick: Golden State Warriors (+2.5)
