Observers see three significant college basketball betting trends this week.

1. Big East Battles

The gambling stage this week features the top four teams in the conference in Marquette, Xavier, Creighton, and Providence going head-to-head. All four are in the College Basketball Top 25, too.

2. Top 10 Spotlight

Bettors also circled the calendar to embrace the clash of nationally-ranked stalwarts, with games like top-ranked Alabama vs No. 10 Tennessee on Wednesday and No. 9 Baylor visiting No. 5 Kansas on Saturday.

3. Cinderella Cha-Ching

This one sneaked up on nearly everyone, except perhaps seasoned gamblers. The nation’s longest win streak of 15 games belongs to none other than unheralded Eastern Washington.

Why is this a Cinderella story? This is not a proverbial powerhouse. The Eagles were 18-16 last year, a mid-pack Big Sky finisher, and they started this season 4-7.

And now, bam, they celebrate a two-month period without losing and have surged to 19-7.

Big East College Basketball News & Betting Trends

Not much separates any of these teams. Many previous matchups have been taut, tight, and down to the wire.

Creighton at Providence

Providence comes off a 73-68 road setback to St. John’s.

The Friars have not lost on their home floor this year. They are the only Big East team with a perfect home mark, 13-0.

Providence stands 6-4 ATS and 7-3 on the Under in recent action.

Creighton has won eight straight games, including a 56-53 nailbiter over UConn on Saturday, in which it was unable to cover -4.5.

The Bluejays are 11-3 in the Big East, tied for second with Xavier and behind Marquette. They are 4-6 ATS and 7-3 on the Under in recent games.

Creighton is 4-6 ATS and 7-3 on the Under in its last 10.

Head-to-Head Trends

Creighton has won the last two matchups, including a 73-67 home victory in January.

Providence prevailed on the spread at +7 in that game.

Creighton has a 6-4 moneyline edge in the last 10 games between the teams.

Providence won the last game on its home floor, 72-51, last year.

Totals Information

The last five games between these teams have averaged 135 points scored.

Xavier at Marquette News & Betting Trends

Xavier enters off a 69-67 loss to Butler at -7. Is tied for second with Creighton in the Big East at 11-3.

Marquette topped Georgetown, 89-75, on the road and covered -11 in its last game.

The Bluejays lead the Big East at 12-3 and are 7-3 ATS, 6-4 on the Over in the last 10.

Head-to-Head Trends

The last five games have all been won by the home team. Xavier has a 3-2 edge there.

Before that, Marquette won four straight matchups.

Xavier won six in a row between 2014-16.

Xavier captured the last matchup, 80-76, in January and covered -3.

Totals Information

The last five contests between the teams have produced an average of 149 points per game.

Betting Tips for Top 10 College Basketball Matchups

(1) Alabama at (10) Tennessee

The Crimson Tide enters the week with a four-game moneyline win streak. It toppled Auburn, 77-69, in its last outing at -1.

‘Bama is 6-3-1 for the Under and 7-3 ATS in its last 10.

The totals in its last five games have averaged 152 points.

Tennessee has been scuffling. It lost two in a row and failed to cover its last four.

The Vols are 4-6 ATS and 5-5 on the Over in their last 10.

Their games have averaged 133 points over the last five.

(9) Baylor at (5) Kansas

Both teams surged in the rankings this week. Baylor improved five places to No. 9 and Kansas jumped four to No. 5.

Baylor has been rolling with a 7-2-1 ATS, including the last three.

The Under is 6-4, thanks to a streak of five straight games below the projected total.

The number of points in Baylor’s last five games has averaged 144.

Kansas is 4-6 ATS in the last 10 games, which includes a losing streak of five.

It has a mark of 5-5 in the Over/Under.

The last five games have averaged 146 total points.

Spotlighted Team: Eastern Washington

Eastern Washington has climbed a victory mountain since Dec. 13, when it fell to 4-7.

The team has managed to stay under the radar involving expectations on the point spread. Fourteen of its 15 wins have an average victory margin of nine points, and thus Eastern Washington has been given modest spread lines to overcome.

It has responded by going 6-3-1 in the last 10 against the number.

Over bettors are feasting to the tune of 8-2 in their last 10.

The team can put up points, and one of its victories was a whopping 76-pointer. It came against Northwest Indian, 130-54. More than doubling an opponent’s total is special.

Northern Arizona vs. Eastern Washington Betting News & Trends

Eastern Washington enters off a 73-66 triumph over Idaho and a push at -7.

Northern Arizona lost to Portland State, 88-87, at -2.5.

Both teams have treated the bettors kindly. Eastern Washington is 15-9-1 ATS and Northern Arizona — despite its moneyline struggles — is 14-10 ATS.

Note: Season records don’t always match the exact number of games. There are a couple of matchups in which no line is established.

Both teams are 15-10 to the Over.

Northern Arizona is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 games, including three in a row.

Eastern Washington’s games have produced an average of 153 total points in the last five, while Northern Arizona games averaged 147.

Head-to-Head Trends

Eastern Washington has won the last 12 and owns a 22-6 edge since 2010. Northern Arizona last won a game in this series in 2017.

But is it all one-sided? Eastern Washington has won the last two games by three points, the smallest margins of victory in the series.

Northern Arizona covered +4.5 in losing their January encounter, 79-76.

In the last five meetings between these teams, the average game total is 143 points.
