Five, count them, five North Carolina schools are ranked in the Top 25 NCAA Baseball Poll. The No. 1 ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons led that pack and entered this season on a mission to return to the College World Series.

The Deacs are +750 to win the 2024 College World Series (CWS). Last season, they were eliminated in the semifinals by eventual national champion LSU.

Get used to the term “futures odds,” North Carolina sports fans. The experts at DraftKings North Carolina, FanDuel North Carolina, and other NC sportsbooks will have plenty of odds on the great North Carolina college baseball teams to win the CWS.

Online sports betting launches in North Carolina on March 11. Sports fans in the Tar Heel State can begin registering with mobile sportsbook apps on March 1.

North Carolina College Baseball Programs Ranked in Division-1 Top 25 with CWS Odds

These rankings are from the Associated Press poll, and the odds are from FanDuel:

  • Wake Forest … No. 1 … +750 to win College World Series
  • East Carolina … No. 11 … +3000
  • Duke … No. 12 … +2900
  • North Carolina State … No. 13 … +4800
  • North Carolina … No. 15 … +4200

Baseball America has East Carolina at No. 11, Duke at No. 13, North Carolina at No. 16, and NC State at No. 19.

ACC is a College Baseball Hotbed

Four North Carolina schools ranked in the NCAA baseball polls compete in the ACC: Wake Forest, North Carolina, NC State, and Duke. East Carolina, located in Greenville, N.C., competes in the American Athletic Conference.

The ACC is also home to Clemson (South Carolina) and Virginia, ranked in the Top 25 by Baseball America and the AP. That makes six schools from the ACC in the college baseball top 25.

Top Contenders for the College World Series

Futures for the 2024 CWS reveal the teams the experts think have the chops to win the national title in June. There are several contenders in addition to the top college baseball teams in North Carolina.

Best Favorites Bets to Win the College World Series

Wake Forest, +700

It looked as if the Deacs were unstoppable last season when they set an ACC record for run differential and posted some of the best strikeout totals in NCAA D1 history. They stood only three wins away from winning the College World Series when LSU nipped them in a one-run thriller in Wichita. This year, coach Tom Walter has his roster focused on their primary mission: return to the CWS, and this time win it all.

Louisiana State University, +750

The defending champs have plenty of aces up their sleeves: top MLB prospects Thatcher Hurd, Luke Holman, and Gage Jump lead an impressive pitching staff. The Tigers have appeared in each of the last 11 NCAA tournaments, and advanced to the College World Series four times since 2012. The program is steeped in history, and the 2024 team is talented at every facet of the game. A repeat is very possible.

Best Midrange Odds Bets to Win the College World Series

Vanderbilt, +1600

Carter Holton is a lefthanded junior who leads the Vandy rotation. He’s rated among the top 25 pitchers who will likely enter the MLB Draft in 2024. With Holton on the hill, the Commodores are likely to challenge for the SEC title.

Oregon State, +1800

No. 7 ranked Oregon State is determined to avenge their loss in the regional finals last season to LSU. The Beavers have possibly the best college middle infielder in Travis Bazzana, a player ranked in the top 10 on most college lists.

Best Longshot Bets to Win the College World Series

East Carolina Pirates, +3000

East Carolina has won four straight AAC titles and won more than 40 games last season. The lineup is seasoned, and No. 1 starter Trey Yesavage can go against any starting pitcher in the country. With an arm like that, the Pirates can get out of the regionals and go deep in the CWS.

Oregon, +7500

The hype out west is going to UCLA and Oregon State, but the Ducks are a superb team on the diamond too. Senior righthander Logan Mercado is a preseason all-conference pick, and if he gets some help from a Saturday and Sunday starter, Oregon could find their way into the CWS this spring.

Coastal Carolina,+9000

How about another Carolina baseball team with a chance to make history? This one a SOUTH Carolina team. The Chanticleers are currently ranked in the Top 25 on the strength of excellent pitching. Once you get to the CWS, it’s usually pitching and defense that wins, and Coastal has both. At +9000, even a $10 winning bet would net you $900.
