The Dallas Cowboys season is off to a terrible start. The Cowboys suffered an embarrassing 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football. What’s worse, Dak Prescott is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a gruesome thumb injury sustained during the loss, and Cowboys odds have adjusted as a result.

Cooper Rush is the No. 2 QB on the Dallas depth chart.

Here’s how Dak Prescott’s injury is affecting betting lines.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl 57 Odds

The Cowboys opened the 2022 season with odds of +1600 to win Super Bowl 57. With Prescott expected to miss up to half the season, that number has lengthened dramatically. As of writing, the best available number is +4500 at FanDuel.

And while odds of +4000 are largely available, some sportsbooks temporarily pulled the Cowboys’ Super Bowl odds.

NFC East Divisional Odds

The NFC East is one of the most contested divisions in the NFL. The Cowboys opened the season as the betting favorite, with their odds to win the division available at +125. Those odds lengthened throughout the offseason as money flowed on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, with Prescott missing significant playing time, that number has exploded. After the Eagles beat the Lions in Week 1, the Cowboys’ odds to win the NFC East are now closer to +500.

FanDuel is dealing +600 for Dallas to win the NFC East.

But … don’t make that bet.

Cowboys Season Win Total

The Cowboys season win total opened at 10.5 games. After their opening night loss against the Buccaneers and without their star quarterback, it’s hard to imagine they come anywhere close to cashing tickets for Over bettors.

Sharp bettors (ahem) who faded the Dallas Cowboys before the season are in great shape. With upcoming games against the Bengals, Eagles, Rams, and Packers over the next eight weeks, the Cowboys need a small miracle to stay competitive.

Sports bettors fortunate enough to place their Under win total wagers at PointsBet woke up to some great news. In light of Prescott’s surgery, the sportsbook opted to pay out Under wagers on the Cowboys win totals.

Savvy marketing from a provider looking to increase market share!

All other sportsbooks have pulled the Cowboys win total odds from the board until more information is available.\

Dallas Cowboys Week 2 Odds

The Cowboys play the Bengals in Dallas in Week 2. This line opened Sunday night at Cowboys -2.5 but has jumped almost 1o points in Cincinnati’s direction to Cowboys +7 in light of Prescott’s injury.

It might seem like an auto-bet to hit the Bengals -7, but I would suggest taking a stab on the Cowboys before this line drops below that key number of 7. The Cowboys are the most popular team in the league, and money should flow on the home underdog here. Also, the Bengals did not look great against the Steelers. I have no interest in laying a full touchdown with the Bengals on the road.

If my theory is correct, the line will continue to drop in favor of the Cowboys. We could end up with a nice middling opportunity around key numbers of 6 and/or 7.
