Brace yourselves, bettors, for Cowboys vs. Seahawks in NFL Preseason Week 2 action on Saturday night. And trust me, I hear you lamenting another preseason game. But remember, this is the time on the football calendar where we can be somewhat lenient judging teams’ shortcomings (looking at you, Dallas offensive line) while still getting in some winning wagers.
Speaking of Dallas’s O-Line — could that weak backup unit be the reason Dallas is a 7-point underdog in this matchup?
Let’s take a look at Cowboys vs. Seahawks odds, props, and predictions.

Cowboys vs. Seahawks Betting News
The Cowboys come into this contest on the heels of a 28-23 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in NFL Preseason Week 1. Not only did Big D lose straight up, but Jerry’s Boys failed to cover the 4-point spread. In that game, their offensive line proved — well, it didn’t prove much. The backup unit gave up four sacks in the loss to Jacksonville.

The Seahawks come into the matchup after defeating the Vikings, 24-13. In Seattle’s victory, rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba showed promise, racking up three catches and 25 yards for Seattle’s offense. However, like Dallas’s O-line, Seattle’s defense showed that it’s lacking depth, which could be a concern ahead of the regular season.
All-time, the Cowboys are 11-10 straight up (SU) against the Seahawks, including regular season and playoffs. But don’t be fooled by that stat because Dallas has lost four consecutive games SU to Seattle dating back to 2015.
Who is Playing in Cowboys-Seahawks Preseason Game?
While coaches play their preseason strategies and lineups close to the vest, here’s what we’re anticipating for Saturday night:
Players we don’t expect to see:
- Dak Prescott
- Micah Parsons
- Trevon Diggs
- Geno Smith
Players we do expect to see:
- Drew Lock
- Riq Woolen
- Abraham Lucas
Keep a close eye on Cowboys (presumed) third-string QB Will Grier. The 2019 third-round pick out of West Virginia threw for 199 yards and went 22 out of 31 passing in the Cowboys’ preseason Week 1 loss. One highlight from Grier’s night against the Jaguars was his 17-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jalen Tolbert.
Cowboys vs. Seahawks Betting Trends
Some angles to consider as you’re handicapping this preseason contest:
- Of active coaches, Pete Carroll has one of the best records against the spread (ATS) in the preseason going 27-19-1.
- Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is 29-28-2 ATS in preseason games.
- Dallas is 363-352-19 against the spread all-time. Last season, Dallas went 11-8 ATS.
- Seattle is 354-350-21 ATS all-time but went 7-11-0 ATS in 2022.
Cowboys vs. Seahawks Predictions
I’m going Cowboys +7 in this spot for a few reasons.
Yes, Seattle won its first preseason game and easily covered -3.5 by defeating the Vikes, 24-13. But 7 points is a hefty number — especially considering there’s no motivation for Carroll & Co. to have Drew Lock on the field leading the offense for more than a few snaps. Plus, for as dismal as Dallas’s O-line looked, there were some noteworthy bright spots for the team. Among those bright spots were performances by tight end Jake Ferguson, running back Deuce Vaughn, and linebacker Damone Clark.
Ferguson impressed against Jacksonville with three receptions and 38 yards. Deuce dazzled with eight carries, 50 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort. Clark recorded four solo tackles and assisted on another.
And while a wise friend of mine, former NFL lineman Geoff Schwartz, contends that defensive-minded coaches care more about winning preseason games than do those who are offensive-minded, I’m putting my money on Mike McCarthy and his Boys to cover the 7.
Pick: Dallas +7 (Caesars)
Dallas vs. Seattle Moneyline and Total
Let’s face it, Cowboys +7 (-110) isn’t the sexiest wager. So bettors looking for a bigger payout on a Cowboys wager could sprinkle some cash on Dallas moneyline at +230 at FanDuel Sportsbook.
If you want a little more skin in the game but aren’t 100% sold on Dallas bouncing back with a cover and a straight-up win, DraftKings is offering a market on the 1st Half Total.
That Over/Under is set at 20.5. And in this spot, I like the Over at +102.
Both Seattle and Dallas scored seven points in their preseason Week 1 matchups, so we know that these squads are capable of putting at least some points on the board before heading into the locker room. But what bettors might want to also consider is the fact coaches will likely be more aggressive with the ones and twos in the first half before digging into the rest of the roster in the second.
Granted, “aggressive” is relative; this is still an exhibition game, so fans and bettors know these coaching staffs won’t jeopardize their starters’ health.
