As someone who loves to eat, it gives me extra satisfaction to have a great meal while helping out a great cause at the same time.

Here in Las Vegas we just completed our Sixth Annual Restaurant Week. For those not familiar with Restaurant Week, participating restaurants create menus for breakfast, lunch or dinner and select a donation of $4, $5 or $6 for each meal sold.

Since 2006, Three Square has provided more than 1.5 million meals to needy people through Restaurant Week. Three Square provides meals to nearly 100,000 men, women, children and seniors each month in Southern Nevada. I was happy to support Restaurant Week.

On Saturday night my wife Lori and I went to what I feel is one of the best steakhouses in Las Vegas, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House (3925 Paradise Road). We had the three-course meal that was part of their RW promotion. I have been to Del Frisco’s many times and never been disappointed. Tonight was no exception.

Both of us started off with the Caesar Salad. Then we chose the Filet Mignon and crab cake combo. The filet was cooked to perfection as always and just melted in my mouth. We loved our steak choice, but what really was the surprise was the crab cake. The best crab I have had in Vegas.

A friend of mine, who also dined at Del Frisco’s recently, concurred saying it was the best crab cakes he had ever eaten. Jumbo lump crab meat made up these cakes with no filler like so many restaurants use. They were sitting on top of a Cajun lobster sauce that was absolutely the perfect accent to the meal.

Del Frisco’s is known for its world class steaks, but I can guarantee you there will be a crab cake involved on my next visit. We both enjoyed a baked potato with the meal with all the usual fixings. Yes, no surprise I get my baked potato loaded. Hey, if you are going to do it, do it right!

The final decision of the night was our dessert choice. Lori went for the cheesecake and was very happy. She said the butterscotch cheesecake was tremendous. I went for the bread pudding. It was pure heaven.

In past visits, I have had the Bone-in-Filet. That is a treat you must try at least once. I can tell you from being the son of meat man there are only two of these steaks per cow, one on each side, so it is a rare treat everyone should experience at least once.

Del Frisco’s is one of my favorite restaurants. I give it 3.75 Forks.

If you weren’t able to get to one of the participating restaurants during restaurant week you can still make a donation to Three Square. Their number is 702-644-3663. Every $1 they receive results in three meals for those in need here in Southern Nevada.
