I was just reading my emails and got one from a reader who told me I need to change the name of my column to “go to the poor house with Rich Saber.”

The reader also wanted to know how much the books were paying me to give out all those losers. Good question, and I feel obliged to answer.

First of all, my money goes down the drain also with my picks. This week Palace Station is sending a limo to pick me up and take me home. Granted I have been picking just horrible, the worst year I have ever had and there is no guarantee I will ever win again someone once told me.

When I was at the Stardust we had this super bettor who just won all the time. Then one season he really went bad and came in to make a deposit in his phone account. I said to him, why don’t you take some time off and regroup. He said, no, I will just cut back some till I get going again. Instead of him betting five dimes a game he cut back to just three.

We will be cutting back this week, but a few things to cover first off.

As I was leaving the book this past Sunday I overheard these two $10 bettors conversing. One says to the other, you know, I just feel so sorry for Tom Brady; and his buddy agrees. As I remember Forest Gump saying, stupid is as stupid does.

Now here are two guys putting $5 each so they can play a teaser and they feel bad for Brady who signed a two-year $41 million contract with a $28 million bonus. Now where has Tom been for the last few weeks – in the training room getting ready? Nope, the suspended one was romping naked at some nude beaches in Italy with his very beautiful sidekick Gisele. My heart goes out for him. I feel so bad, he can’t even afford clothes.

Now let me see if I can get off my horrible streak as I was 1-7 last week. It will not be that bad this week as I will only pick a few games.

Last week: 1-7; Season: 9-21-2.

Tulane +13 at UCF: Just love this play as new head coach Scott Frost. who came in from Oregon as he was their offensive coach, has really turned this program around winning 3 of his first 5 games. Central Florida scored 53 and 47 the last two games and look to get revenge from last year’s 45-31 loss to Tulane. The Knights will get it. UCF.

BYU +5.5 at Michigan St.: The Cougars pulled one out last week in a real shootout, beating Toledo 55-53 on a late field goal. Now they travel to East Lansing to take on the Spartans, who lost to Indiana last week and are caught in a sandwich job in this non-conference game before playing Northwestern next week. The Spartans have gone 0-7 ATS as non-conference favorites in this price range and BYU is 15-0 ATS away vs. a team off back-to-back losses with a win percentage of .333 or higher. This trend says Cougars! BYU.

Indiana +31 at Ohio St.: The Buckeyes look to be on a mission as they have started the season going 4-0 SU and ATS. Urban “the legend” Meyer remembers the scare Indiana gave them last year in Bloomington. We also find a good trend in this game as the Hoosiers have gone 0-10 ATS away with revenge when coming off a win. The “EYES” have it! OHIO STATE.

LSU -2.5 at Florida: Les Miles goes and it was like a sleeping giant woke up as the Tigers crushed Mizzou last week, 42-7, without Miles. The Gators just can’t put any points on the board, getting 13 last week vs. Vandy. Florida is 0-7 ATS at home after scoring 14 or less points. Tigers roar with or without Fournette. LSU/UNDER.

Final note: Congrats to the USA golf team for winning the Ryder Cup in what was a sensational effort. Talking about golf, if there are some out there who want to take some strokes off their game, well, my cousin Bruce Saber who I mentioned in last week’s column is an avid golfer. When he met the late Arnold Palmer he asked him for a tip and Arnie said he had a sure fire way to knock four strokes off his game.

Bruce’s eyes popped wide open and he waited for the answer. Arnie pulls out a pencil and says it’s called an eraser.

Armed with an eraser you don’t need to be walking around lucky.
