The Mavs got back in action following the NBA All-Star break with a back-to-back, defeating visiting San Antonio before coming up just short in their comeback bid on Thursday night despite sitting stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis for rest purposes. The Nuggets debuted against the Grizzlies in one of Friday night’s most compelling matchups since both teams reached the playoffs in the bubble and should be in the mix again in 2021.

Mavericks at Nuggets picks and predictions hinge on how well Denver plays on the second night of a back-to-back since players aren’t expected taking a game for load maintenance purposes, but you should double-check closer to tip-off to ensure nothing has changed.

Nuggets Current Form and Betting Results

Following Friday night’s matchup with the Grizzlies, Denver remains in the middle of the pack in the Western Conference, right there with the Portland Trail Blazers in looking up at the Utah Jazz in the Northwest Division.

Despite missing a number of key rotation players like Gary Harris and JaMychal Green, Denver hopped on All-Star Nikola Jokic’s back in order to win four straight games before the respite.

Mavericks at Nuggets picks and predictions will look to identify whether Denver can impose its will at home against an opponent that isn’t used to playing in altitude. Unlike Utah, which has parlayed a similar edge into a 15-2 record in Salt Lake City, the Nuggets are just 9-7 at the newly renamed Ball Arena.

Friday night’s game in Memphis marked the end of a lengthy run that saw the Nuggets play nine of 11 games outside Colorado’s  Mile High City. They split games against the Trail Blazers and Wizards on Feb. 23-25, losing to Washington the last time they took the floor there. This contest against the Mavericks will open a five-game homestand that will match their longest of the season and feature games against the Pacers, Hornets, Bulls and Pelicans. All of those teams are under .500, so this will, on paper, be the most challenging game of the bunch.

The Nuggets had covered in all four victories they recorded prior to Friday’s game in Memphis, holding opponents to 103 points or fewer in three of the contests. The ‘under’ has connected in four of the last six games prior to visiting the Grizzlies.

Mavericks Current Form And Sports Betting Results

The Mavs had won four straight games themselves prior to giving Doncic and Porzingis the night off in Oklahoma City. Josh Richardson, Jalen Brunson and forward Maxi Kleber stepped up and actually cut into a significant deficit in the fourth quarter, nearly catching the Thunder from behind before Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put in a pair of big baskets to stretch out a lead in an eventual 116-108 loss on Thursday night.

Doncic put together his eighth triple-double of the season with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists in Wednesday’s 115-104 win over the Spurs. It was his first since Feb. 10 and helped offset a 2-for-10 shooting game from beyond the arc. Porzingis scored 28 points, his second-largest output of the season, putting together his third straight double-double while racking up a season-high 14 rebounds.

Dallas covered in three of its four wins recorded prior to the loss in OKC, winning in Brooklyn and Orlando before beating the Thunder and Spurs at home. The Mavs will play consecutive games against the Clippers at the American Airlines Center on Monday and Wednesday of next week. The ‘under’ is 6-2 over Dallas’ last eight games.

Betting Line Analysis

The line wasn’t released here at the time of this writing, but the Nuggets are expected to be in a home favorite’s role, albeit at a short number. Dallas is 2-1 SU and ATS as an underdog since February but had lost its previous five games when catching points.

The Nuggets have been favored by 2 and 2.5 points in their two games against the Mavericks this season and have split, losing at home 124-117 on Jan. 7 before returning the favor with a 117-113 triumph in Dallas on Jan. 5. The total closed at 222.5 and 223 in those contests and was eclipsed on each occasion.

Injuries/Rotational Adjustments to Watch

Denver got back Facundo Campazzo for the game against the Grizzlies and have had P.J. Dozier back in the mix as well after he missed a substantial amount of time. With Jamal Murray playing well and Monte Morris getting major minutes as one of the team’s primary reserves, the Nuggets are in good shape in the backcourt in spite of Harris’ continued absence.

The Nuggets are expected to have Doncic and Porzingis back, so they’ll have guys like Richardson, Kleber, Dorian Finney-Smith and Brunson back in supporting roles. Rick Carlisle has been known to utilize Boban Marjanovic off his bench in the first half of games against Denver in order to have him lean on Jokic in the first half of games.

Mavericks at Nuggets Handicapping Notes and Pick

Dallas has already won in Denver once and should have fresher legs here since Doncic and Porzingis haven’t played since Wednesday night. With so many capable scorers and willing passers out there, look for another high-scoring game between these teams to produce a contest that again resides on the high side.
