DEL MAR

Race 1

No. 1 Adorable just hated going long on the grass last out and now gets a mile on the dirt but that last work is a puzzler and she will be overbet, we will try and bet her. The Desormeaux brothers once again hook up on No. 3 Princess Coco who has the looks of a filly who wants to go long. Baffert who trains Adorable also sends out first time starter No. 7 Czarina and the leading rider Prat gets the call. 3-7

Race 2

No. 2 Basinca gets his third start at the meet and Bejarano gets the call today as trainer O’Neill plays jockey musical chairs, he will get a solid pace up front to make a late run. No. 6 Bolitar is the barn mate of Basinca and gets his second off the layoff and exits the same race. 2-6

Race 3

No. 3 Gunslinger was hung out to dry in his last start at this mile distance, he gets a better draw today and a confident move up in class. No. 6 Tribal Jewel comes off a gutty win going 1-1/16 in his last start, Baltas looks to strike while the iron is hot on the drop. No. 8 Teniente Coronel was third vs. Arrogate last out and we know what he did in his last start, he takes a needed drop in class. 3-6-8

Race 4

In this five furlong turf sprint No. 5 Matter of Luck ran ok in his last here at this distance and now gets a major rider upgrade. No. 9 Silver Mojave exits the same race, she was a good second and will be making another big late run. 5-9

Race 5

We will go singling in the last leg up the pick five using No. 10 Viva Vegas who exits our HTW list as a $$$$$ play, this is her race to lose. 10***

Race 6

THE $100K DEL MAR JUVENILE TURF

No. 3 Big Score comes off a big score first out of the box here at this mile turf distance, Prat fits like a glove. No. 5 Billy Big was a hot item in the wagering last out in his first start in the states, he won like a good thing and will be very tough right back. No. 6 Irish Goodbye exits the same race as Billy Big, he ran a goofy kind of race as he dropped back and came again to by a fast closing second.

3-5**-6

Race 7

Toss out No. 1 Sweet Halory’s last effort, her dirt sprints put her right there today. No. 2 Mama’s Sugar was last seen running in the Grade I Starlet last December, she won first out of the box here last year by six lengths. No. 5 Fantasy of Luck has some good early speed and gets a jock switch to Bejarano. No. 11 Shy Carmelita has some upset potential as she gets off the grass and gets back to sprinting on the dirt, she will find a fast early pace to make her late run. 1-2-5-11

Race 8

Maiden 2yo go a mile on the grass. The last two times that Bejarano rode for Simon Callaghan he got the wins, he gets on first time starter No. 7 Lyrical Passage. No. 9 Pacific Coast Hwy is the barn mate of Lyrical Passage and gets Gary Stevens and is bred to route on the grass. 7-9

Race 9

THE $300K GRADE I DEL MAR DEBUTANTE

No. 3 American Cleoptra exits our HTW list, she is the full sister of American Pharoah and comes off a dazzling maiden score. Her stablemate No. 5 Noted and Quoted also comes off a big maiden win as Baffert looks to have them circled. 3-5

Race 10

No. 1 Rye is 2 for 2 here on the grass and is the one to beat again. No. 3 It’s The Ice will go better in this his second off the layoff for D’Amato. No. 10 Barhanpour is a sneaky looking French import and No. 12 Mittersill is a sneaky looking Irish import for the sharp hook up of Prat and Gallagher. 1-3-10-12

Race 11

No. 3 Picture Tube must be broke as Baffert drops him from straight maiden races to this $20k maiden claimer but take note his go to rider Bejarano gets on board. We say the drop for the win and we will single in the late pick four. 3**
