Race 1

Trainer Molly Pearson brings in a sneaky looking runner in No. 3 Lucky Dolly and Stevens gets the call, this one has some big early speed. No. 7 Spring Heat drops and gets Prat who is trying to beat Bejarano for the riding title. No. 9 Laura’s Babydoll ran a solid second in her one start here on Aug. 3 and can only move forward. 3-7-9

D’Amato brings in No. 4 Newsman from Ireland and he looks like a runner. No. 12 He Will gets his second start off the layoff for Hollendorfer and he is on nice pattern. 4**-12

Race 3

Lots of early speed in this 5-1/2 furlong sprint. No. 1 One More Roll drops and will get the right pace for his running style. No. 4 Too Fast to Pass gets Santiago back and he knows how to ride this gelding. No. 8 Fair Advantage is in from Churchill for Hartman and looks like a good fit from off the pace. 1-4-8

Race 4

32k maiden fillies and mares go six furlongs. No. 2 G Q Covergirl is a first-time starter with solid works, she looks very live with the bug boy Lindsay getting the call. No. 3 Sweetwater Gal and No. 4 Sid the Squid are the main danger. 2-3-4

Race 5

No. 1 Stand by for News is the speed on the rail and gets Bejarano today riding for Peter Miller. No. 3 Angel Lane also has some high early speed and gets Prat back on off the claim. No. 12 Royal Flush Babe comes off a nice maiden win and fits at this level. 1-3-12

Race 6


No. 2 Nancy From Nairobi just missed here in her last start in the Grade II Yellow Ribbon and has been working great since. No. 3 Elektrum just missed here in her last start and is the stablemate of Nancy and she gives trainer Sadler a very tough one two punch. No. 4 Queen of the Sand missed here by a head last year in this race when beaten by Elektrum. No. 6 Sobradora won here in her first stateside start when beating Prize Exhibit and Elektrum last out keeping her undefeated streak alive at five. No. 12 Prize Exhibit exits our HTW list and may have been best in that race but was blocked and steadied and still only lost by a half length. 2-3-4-6-12

Race 7

2yo maidens go 6-1/2 furlongs, Baffert sends out first-time starter No. 1 Roosevelt off a bullet five furlong work, he also sends out No. 9 Red Kite who will be the price of the two runners. No. 10 Troublewithatee is a first-timer for D’Amato with some good works and he gets Kent D who is good with these young runners. 1-9-10

Race 8


No. 1 Gold Rush Dancer exits our HTW list, he is on a three race win streak and is a perfect 2 for 2 on the grass. No. 4 Moonlight Drive has run three straight good races on the grass and gets Bejarano back. No. 8 Monster Bea won the Oceanside on opening day and then ran a close 4th in the La Jolla finishing right behind Moonlight Drive who was 3rd. 1-4***-8

Race 9

No. 1 Ten Blessings won at first asking back in February and then took some time off, he comes back in a good spot. No. 2 Blameitonthelaw comes off the layoff for Sadler and this colt was meeting some tough company as a 2yo last year, like Nyquist! 1-2***

Race 10

The big day ends with a mile turf race for fillies and mares. No. 6 X S Heat has run all of her races on the grass and beat a good maiden field last out. No. 8 Warm Endowment beat X S to break her maiden at this distance. No. 10 Mai Tai never ran a step in her last start on the grass when Kent Just took her back after trouble, toss that effort. 6-8-10
