Race 1

There is just a lot of early speed in this mile turf race so we will use two runners that will be picking up the tiring speed: No. 2 Taima the Hawk who was a fast closing second down the hill last out with Stevens and No. 9 Junior Gilliam who exits the same race. 2-9

Race 2

$8k claimers go sprinting 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 3 Finallygotabentley is in top form for this level and has been claimed three straight times. No. 5 Swiss Cheese likes this track and his last win came here at this level with Perez riding. No. 7 Quorum of Joy hated the grass last out, just toss that race and the price could be ok. 3-5-7

1st 2-9

2nd 3-5-7

Race 3

2yo maidens go 6-1/2 furlongs. No. 1 Stone Hands had a nice work here on the 12th. No. 3 Law Abidin Citizen ran in two tough races finishing 3rd both times, Mike Smith sticks. No. 5 Fielder is a live first time starter for Baffert. 1-3-5

Race 4

2yo maidens travel a mile on the grass. No. 3 Avalanche was a fast closing 2nd by a half length in his first start when going down the hill, he will love this mile distance and gets the good turf jock Van Dyke. No. 7 Irap finished 3rd right behind him after showing some good early speed. 3-7

Exacta box 3-7 and win and place 3

Race 5

No. 1 Ann Arbor Eddie won like something good first out of the box for O’Neill when sent off at 6/5, he could be this good. No. 3 Mastery was sent off at .30 cents on the dollar in his first race for Baffert and won by more than four lengths when beating Stone Hands who runs in the first race, so see how that one does. No. 5 California Diamond makes this a very interesting five horse race, he is the proven class.

Race 6

This 1-1/16 turf route looks very, very tough and any of the nine runners could jump up and win. We will opt for the horses exiting the He Will race who came right back to score big in his next start. No. 3 Reflected Star who finished 2nd and No. 5 Fritz Johansen who was a troubled 7th. No. 4 Sawyer’s Hill has been facing better and is a must use. 3-4-5

Race 7

More maiden 2yo going 6-1/2 furlongs. No. 2 Honor and Courage looks the speed and has been well bet in both of his starts. No. 8 Match Play is another very live Baffert first time starter who has been working great. 2-8

Race 8

This is a $100k optional claimer going 1-1/8 on the grass and we will key on No. 9 Perfectly Majestic who has never been off the board in his six starts here, he comes off a near miss and looks the one to beat. We will key him first and second with No. 2 Power Ped, No. 4 Little Curlin who exits the same race and No. 10 Clever Royal who also exits the race but is stuck on the also list looking to draw in.

9** with 2-4-10

Race 9

The day at Del Mar ends with $20k maiden fillies and mares going 5-1/2 furlongs and this one is wide open to say the least. No. 4 Motutapu ran well here back in October of 2015 finishing second by a nostril, she finds a very easy spot for her return. No. 6 Colin the Cops could be live first out of the box. No. 11Cecile’s Diamond drops in class and will go much better with this group.
