Trainer Bob Hess sends out the uncoupled entry of No. 4 Swiss Chees the likely favorite and No. 5 Thunder Basin on the drop in class. He puts kid Austin Solis on Thunder Basin, look for a big wake up and more early speed from him. 4-5

$50k maidens go 6-1/2 furlongs. No. 3 Ral Rue drops from straight maidens and gets the bug boy Solis, look for better today. No. 8 Ketos also drops from straight maidens and will be on or near the front end right with No. 9 Sunset Grill who also drops in class and gets the hot riding Van Dyke. 3-8-9

$32k claimers go 1-1/16 on the grass. No. 3 Infinite Magic will try and turn the tables on No. 8 Buymeabond who beat him last time out by a half a length. Buymeabond gets his first start off the Peter Miller claim but keeps Tyler Baze. No. 10 Rprettyboyfloyd gets his first start off the claim and the visiting J R Velazquez gets the ride. 3-8-10

$40k maiden 2yo go 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 4 Burn Me Twice is a first time starter out of the dam Double D Appeal who has dropped 4 winners from 4 starters. No. 3 Not Chopped Liver has the best last race of those that have run but moves up in class. No. 9 Datcatsa Gem drops and will go better at this level.

Fillies and mares go five furlongs on the grass in this $80k optional claimer. No. 5 Long Hot Summer is the filly to beat off her win here one race back in a $100k optional claimer. No. 4 Entrechat gets a drop in class and the visiting Irad Ortiz Jr. gets the call, we have learned to never leave him out of a bet. No. 7 Home Journey also owns a win on this five furlong turf course along with two seconds and a third, Mike Smith will give her one more shot. No. 8 Paquita Coqueta exits the same race as Long Hot Summer one back and she finished second and then got beat a neck going down the hill at Santa Anita, she gets Gary Stevens today. 5**/4-7-8

THE $200K GRADE II BAYAKOA AT 1-1/16 ON THE DIRT

No. 5 Vale Dori is one consistent filly and just won by ten lengths in her last start while under a hand ride, she could be this good and that last work was a pip and big race Mike Smith gets the call. No. 6 Wild At Heart gets the great Javier Castellano in the irons for papa Mandella, she will be making a late run at Vale. 5-6

THE $300K GRADE I HOLLYWOOD DERBY AT 1-1/8 ON THE GRASS

This looks like the Chad Brown show as he sends out a three horse uncoupled entry of No. 1 Beach Patrol with Florent Geroux, No. 2 Camelot Kitten with Irad Ortiz Jr. who just beat Beach Patrol in the Hill Prince at Belmont and No. 11 Annals of Time with Javier Castellano who was 3rd in the Hill Prince behind Beach Patrol. No. 5 Free Rose loves this course with 2 wins and a 3rd from his three starts here, he won the Del Mar Derby here. 1-2-5-11

Race 8

Very strange positioning for this 2yo maiden race as it usually would be the last race of the day. No. 4 Sheer Flattery exits our HTW list off a good second behind Mastery who came back and won a stakes race with ease, Mastery is also a pre Kentucky Derby contender. No. 12 American Anthem is a $435k Baffert first time starter and owns Bafferts’ key back-to-back five furlong work pattern. 4-12

We get $80k optional claiming 3yo going a mile on the grass. No. 3 Tribal Fighter is in tip top form and just missed here at this level back in September. No. 5 Champagne Charley was well bet in his first start in the states but did not fire, he gets Castellano sticking around for the ride.
