Race 3

Optional $62,500 fillies and mares travel a mile on the grass. No. 1 Helen Hillary is in tip-top form. No. 6 Quebec ran a bang-up second here at this level last out on July 29 and has come back with a nice work, we love Drayden Van Dyke up today for Richard Baltas. Rafael Bejarano jumps on No. 7 A Little Bit Me who will also be close to the early pace. 1-6-7


Race 4

Calif. bred optional $20k runners go six furlongs. No. 1 Perfect Wager is on a two-race win streak for Jeff Mullins and his last win was here on the 3rd. No. 3 Terrible Ted won here first out of the box on July 26 when blasting home to win, he has come back to work great and Kent Desormeaux sticks. No. 4 King Abner gets his second start at the meet and gets back on his preferred surface. 1-3-4

Race 5

Maiden fillies and mares travel five furlongs on the grass. No. 3 Orageuse comes off the layoff for Richard Mandella, she ran great on the downhill Santa Anita turf course last year and ran ok on this course in her first start almost a year to the day, we find it interesting that jockey Mike Smith gets on first-timer No. 7 Midnight in Dixie for Carla Gaines who is looking for her first win at the meet. No. 11 Second Fiddle is another live first-time starter with a big last work and a hot jockey-trainer combo. No. 12 Tantara also has been working great for her first start. 3***-7-11-12


Race 6

$40k claimers go six furlongs. No. 2 Aristocratic drops and gets back on the dirt. No. 3 Allaboutaction is the speed of the speed and is in top form. this will be his second start off the Peter Miller claim and Van Dyke gets the call. No. 7 Best Two Minutes exits the same race as Aristocratic and gets Joel Rosario who stuck around for some beach time. 2-3-7


Race 7

Calif. bred maiden fillies and mares go 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 4 Smiling Annie has been working with a purpose and gets Gary Stevens up. No. 5 Paprika has run three times and has finished second in all three, Rosario says he will give this filly a shot. No. 8 Coco Kisses gets her second start at the meet off a good second last out. Gary Stevens who rode her opts for No. 4 and Mike Smith gets up on Coco. 4-5-8

Race 8


No. 1 Catapult comes off a nice win here in the Grade 2 Eddie Reid last out and came back to work a bullet on the grass on the 12th with the dogs up. No. 4 Sharp Samurai exits the same race and was a neck behind. No. 6 Bowies Hero also exits the race, she was a length behind and now gets Joel Rosario. 1-2-4

Race 9

Calif. bred maiden 2yo go 5-1/2 furlongs, Bill Morey has been sending out live runners this meet and he sends out first-time starter No. 4 Anniversary Sale who looks live. No. 5 Policy makes his first start and worked a bullet here on the 12th when best of 82 workers that day, this guy can run. Look for much better today from No. 7 Feeling Strong who gets Kent D up and a big last work. 7**-5-4

Race 10

$32k claimers travel a mile on the grass. No. 1 Ohio was claimed for $50k back in June, he returns for a $28k claiming price as the connections look to dump and get the purse money. No. 7 Rapid Red is in from Lone Star for brothers Desormeaux, he has been very consistent in his career. No. 11 Upper Room comes off the $25k Hollendorfer claim and a nice win last out here on the 5th. 1-7-11
