DEL MAR

NOTE: The first five races of today’s Del Mar card can be located in my column GET RICH WITH SABER.

Race 6

Optional $40k runners travel a mile on the main and No. 1 Shivermetimbers gets back to the spot of his one win and it was at this distance last November here at Del Mar when Mike Smith rode him, Mike gets back on today and we do note that this 3yo colt ran second to Justify last March. No. 4 Divisor also won here last November, two days before Shivermetimbers and he also gets back the jock who rode him that day. No. 8 Regulate has been working a hole in the wind for Baffert and is a must use off that last work.  1**-4-8

Race 7

Maiden 2yo fillies go five furlongs. No. 2 True Validity is the key runner in this race, she was well bet in her debut race at Santa Anita when battling tooth and nail the entire trip, Prat sticks. No. 7 Brill has been working great for her first start for Hollendorfer and we like Van Dyke riding. No. 9 Bizwhacks exits the same race as True Validity, who she beat by a neck, not this time. 2**-9-7

Race 8

$100K OCEANSIDE

As always for opening day at Del Mar we have the $100k Oceanside at a mile on the grass. No. 2 Texas Wedge last win came here last November when sprinting five furlongs on the grass, Prat rode him for Peter Miller that day and is back on today, he had a good prep for this going down the hill off the layoff last out, he is set for his best. No. 5 Desert Stone is on a two-race win streak and both going long on the grass. No. 10 Calexman looks the speed of the speed and is in top form. No. 11 Heartfullofstars will be making a late run for a piece. No. 13 Afleet Ascent adds speed to the field and will be right on the tail of Calexman. 2** with 5-10-11-13

Race 9

Starter allowance runners travel a mile on the main and we have two runners in here exiting our HTW list and we will use both in the last leg of the late pick four. No. 5 Closing Time who just missed last out by a neck going down the hill, he can handle the dirt and the trip. No. 6 Super Duper Cooper owns a win here and just missed last out at this level and distance and his last work was a pip. 5-6

Race 10

No. 8 Data Central ran third last out when exiting our HTW list, he ran a big race here last August and worked a bullet for this and we love when Kent D sticks around to ride the last race, we will take our shot and single here hoping to get a good trip. 8**
