The Texas native is back on the big stage after a humbling loss in SB55, and there’s no doubt he’ll want to leave with the Lombardi Trophy this time around. To do so, he and his offense will have to be victorious against the league’s third-best defense against the Eagles.
“The Super Bowl week is special — it’s a special week — but it’s not about being down there the week of the Super Bowl, it’s about winning the game,” Mahomes said to Chiefs.com. “I want guys to keep that at the front of mind. Enjoy it — enjoy the whole entire week — but make sure you’re prepared to go out there and play your best football as well.”

Andy Reid Takes on Old Team in Super Bowl 57
Before he became “Big Red” on the Chiefs sidelines, Andy Reid spent 14 years as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. He was there for the last time the Eagles lost in the Super Bowl and he’ll be on the opposing sideline hoping for the same outcome with Kansas City’s team coming out victorious.
“When you really cut to the chase on it, they’re a really good football team,” Reid said to NFL.com after the AFC Championship game. “It’s a pretty big game for everybody, you guys included, it’s a big, big deal. It’s the Super Bowl. But you try to blank that out and make sure that you’re getting the game plan.”
Of course, he’s not the only coach facing his former team. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spent four seasons with the Chiefs, 2009-2012, prior to Reid’s arrival in KC.
“Andy came in because we weren’t good enough in Kansas City. And he stepped in and did an unbelievable job,” Sirianni said to ESPN. “Of course, I didn’t want to leave there, but when I look at it, God’s always put me in great positions and guided my paths.”
