Recommendation: Bet the Eagles at DraftKings PA

On paper, this matchup is a great one for the Eagles. Yes, the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes and one of the most explosive offenses in the league. But Philadelphia has the best pass rush in the NFL and could make this game reminiscent of Super Bowl LV for Mahomes.

The Tampa Bay defense recorded three sacks, five tackles-for-a-loss, nine passes defenses, 10 quarterback hits, and two interceptions in that game while holding Mahomes and the Chiefs offense out of the end zone.

But the pressure will come from more than just the defense. The Eagles will likely utilize their run game to dominate the time of possession and keep Mahomes on the sidelines. It certainly worked last week against the 49ers (148 total yards rushing; 37:26 TOP).

Between the Philadelphia defense and run game, there will be no room for error in Mahomes’ game. He’ll need to maximize every scoring opportunity while hoping the Kansas City defense can slow down the Eagles run game and maybe even force Jalen Hurts into a mistake or two.

As long as Patrick Mahomes is relatively healthy and able to play, the Kansas City Chiefs will be tough to beat. However, the Eagles are a team built to do just that. They have a defense that can slow down Mahomes and the Chiefs offense. As for their offense, it may not be as explosive as Kansas City’s, but it is undoubtedly as dynamic.

That is where the Eagles gain the advantage. The Chiefs defense may succeed in containing the Philadelphia offense for a quarter or maybe the first half, but the Eagles will pull away in the second half.

Our Pick: Eagles -1.5

Super Bowl Prop Bets: Eagles

Along with odds for the game, sportsbooks carry an extensive menu of prop bets for the Super Bowl. Let’s examine a few featuring players from the Eagles:

Jalen Hurts, Anytime Touchdown Scorer -115

Hurts is an integral part of the Eagles run game, especially in the red zone. He had one less red zone touch than Miles Sanders this season (43 to 44) but recorded one more touchdown than Sanders (11 to 10). He’s had at least one in five of his last six games.

Miles Sanders, Rushing Yards, Under 57.5 +105

Sanders is a solid running back and should do well against a Chiefs defense that gives up 4+ yards a carry and 100+ ypg on the ground. While he can certainly rush for 57.5+ yards, it is hard to say if he will get enough carries to do so. While he is considered the lead running back in the Eagles top-five running game, Philadelphia uses a running back by committee approach.

He’ll be splitting time with Kenneth Gainwell and Bart Scott in the backfield; it would not be shocking to see Jalen Hurts running more in the Super Bowl. So, chances are he may only get 10-12 carries, and he’ll likely need at least 15 to run for 57.5+ yards.

Jalen Hurts, Rushing Yards, Under 49.5 -110

Hurts has been a weapon with his legs all season; he had 760 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground just during the regular season (15 games). While his mobility is something the Eagles will utilize, don’t count on him becoming a huge part of the run game. He has played fine since returning from injury, but there is still some concern over his shoulder.

The Eagles will want to use him in the run game, but they’ll do so sparingly and tell Hurts to get down early rather than take on hits. He hasn’t rushed for more than 39 since his return and probably will not clear that in the Super Bowl.

Jalen Hurts, 2+ Touchdowns, +600

Hurts had 2+ touchdowns in three games this season, the last time coming against Chicago in Week 15 when he had three. It would not be shocking to see the Eagles try to utilize his mobility and elusiveness every time they get into the red zone. The odds only give him a 14.29% chance, but it’s worth the risk.
