The NFL’s Super Wild Card Weekend concludes with a tasty Monday Night Football matchup between the Cowboys and Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.  These teams met in Week 1, with the Bucs picking up a 19-3 road win against the Cowboys, who lost QB Dak Prescott to a broken thumb in the season opener.

Tampa Bay (8-9) is hosting this game because it won the NFC South division title. Dallas (12-5) has been the better team this season, and the Cowboys are short favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Monday Night Football Betting Analysis

The Buccaneers (8-9) have the worst record of any division winner in this year’s playoffs. The NFC South was a hot mess this year. But Tampa Bay still has Tom Brady and his many years of playoff experience and success to fall back on to make a postseason run.

Tampa Bay first needs to get past Dallas (12-5) on MNF. The Bucs have had difficulty running the football most of the season. If Brady is forced to drop back and throw more than he’d prefer, the Cowboys have one of the league’s best pass rushes. Micah Parsons has 13.5 sacks on the season, ranking him seventh among all players in the NFL.

Still, you should expect Brady to throw the ball often to WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Evans was quiet for much of the season before breaking out with 207 receiving yards and three TDs in the division-clinching win against Carolina in Week 17. Godwin leads the Bucs with 104 receptions on the season.

Dallas enters this contest with some concerns after a miserable 26-6 loss to Washington in the regular season finale. QB Dak Prescott has been a turnover waiting to happen in recent weeks. Prescott threw his 15th interception of the season last week at Washington, and it was returned for a pick-six by Kendall Fuller. Fuller had nearly picked Prescott on the previous play during the same pass route.

Prescott has now thrown an interception in seven straight games dating back to Week 12. His cause will be aided if RBs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard can find some success on the ground vs. the Bucs. Tampa Bay has a middling rush defense, giving up more than 100 yards a game to rank 15th.

This could be where the game is won.
