Duke Blue Devils (20-5, 14-10-1 ATS)

After a slow start to the season, Duke has kicked it into gear as we inch closer to March Madness. The Blue Devils have won seven of its last eight games, with its lone loss coming against North Carolina at the Dean Dome.

Since the loss to the Tar Heels, Duke is 4-0, with an average winning margin of 12.5 points. During that stretch, they have taken down three teams in the top 100 in KenPom (Boston College, Wake Forest, and Florida State).

Part of the reason they have been playing so well lately is the emergence of freshman Jared McCain. Duke played shorthanded against the Noles as Tyrese Proctor was out with a concussion, and McCain stepped up big time, dropping eight threes and 35 points total.

McCain has shown, at times, a natural gift of scoring, but against a really tough defense at Florida State, he really put on a show. They might need that same type of performance tonight, as Proctor is questionable. Even without Proctor, Duke should be able to put up a big number. The Hurricanes rank 111th in KenPom’s Adjusted Defensive Rating, and they will be without guard Nijel Pack and possibly Matt Cleveland.

Miami Hurricanes (15-11, 14-11-1 ATS)

Coming off a Final Four appearance, this was supposed to be a big season for Miami. Despite a few early losses, the Canes entered 2024 with a 10-2 record and a lot of hope that they could make another deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Instead, they have completely fallen on their faces. Miami is on a four-game losing streak and has lost nine of its last 13 games, including a terrible home loss to Lousiville. Even with the injuries and losing culture, betting against a Jim Larrañaga-led team is not always a wise move.

There is so much experience coaching in big games, and his defensive-driven style makes Miami a tough team to beat. The problem is they have not stopped much of anything this season. Miami ranks 170th in scoring (72.5), and they allow just over nine three per game on 28.4 attempts, which ranks in the bottom 300 of the country.

Offensively, they can put up some points, especially from deep. However, possibly being without Pack and Cleveland tonight is a big blow on offense. It also weakens an already struggling defense, and the Blue Devils are on fire entering tonight.

If the Canes can get hot from deep, they will have a good chance at keeping this close.

Duke vs. Miami Betting Pick & Prediction

The Hurricanes are in a funk but have performed much better at home this season. Their last home game was against North Carolina, where the Tar Heels had to make a second-half comeback to win by two.

Miami did not shoot the ball all that well against the Heels, but they forced turnovers and played great defense when needed. Unfortunately for Larrañaga’s squad, they were healthy in that matchup. They will be without two of their leading scorers tonight and are losing some defensive depth against a really hot Duke offense.

Let’s not be mistaken here. The Hurricanes still have plenty of scoring options, but I don’t see how they can match what Duke is throwing out there. Miami will have a hard time finding answers for Kyle Filipowski and a plethora of talented guards and wings. Take Duke with the points tonight.

Duke vs. Miami Injury Report

Both teams could be shorthanded tonight. Miami is still dealing with Pack’s injury, and they could also be without Cleveland, who is dealing with an illness and has not practiced this week. Meanwhile, there is still no word at the time of writing on Proctor for Duke, but there is not as much concern as the Blue Devils have more than enough talent to plug into the lineup.

Here, we have included an up-to-date Duke vs. Miami injury report.
